Phone Cradle Problem

I have the phone cradle for my Sony Ericsson. The phone works fine with the bluetooth although it drains the battery rather rapidly. I got the cradle to work also, except for one major problem. When I dial with the phone in the cradle i can hear it ring over the speaker system, which is great. BUT, the person on the other end can't hear me. They can't hear me dial a number on the keypad, or anything. Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Just FYI, I tried the phone with a regular, plug-in headset, and that works. So, its not the ports on the phone.

Crap!! Sorry, Martin!! Yes!! I got it in last week. A late Christmas present. Guy Salmon in Coventry sent it to me. It wasn't as expensive as expected. It has worked perfectly, except for this most recent issue. Thanks again for all of your help.

rweintra,
My office is across the road from Guy Salmon, so if you need someone to call in for anything, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

So very kind of you. I may ask you to ask the service dept about this issue. The US dealers don't have this part in their stock so they probably won't be able to help me. I simply can't get the microphone to work when the phone is in the cradle. Maybe they would know if it could be a wiring problem, or maybe they have seen this problem in particular with the Sony Ericsson cradles? Any help would be much appreciated.

First thing to test is another cradle as these can be faulty. If another one is the same, the next thing to try is the same model phone as yours, in your car. My nokia 6230 had corrupt software issues and I had to replace the phone itself.

If it is still not working, it is more likely to be the PTI system itself playing up and therefore needs dealer attention.

Go through a process of elimination of the easy to swap aspects before you presume the car is at fault.

Good luck. L319 D4 HSE

Tried another phone. It didn't work.

I would be happy to get another cradle, but there are truly none left in the world.

If there are, I'll glady buy another one.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I have figured out the cradle issue.

The first thing I did was take the cradle apart to make sure that all of the parts inside were solidly together. I firmed up a couple of the solder points and then put it back together. I then realized that the contacts were not making solid contact. So, I cleaned both the contacts on my phone and on the cradle. Wouldn't you know it, it started working. Now, I still can't get my phonebook downloaded, but I can handle that. Onto the next problem, when one arises....
