Dealers Dented my car

After a recent visit to my dealer to have some minor warranty jobs sorted, it was returned to me and all was fine, after a week or so i cleaned the car and noticed a very shallow dent in the tailgate in the middle, as thought someone had forced shut the tailgate with the palm of there hand Evil or Very Mad

rang the dealer straight away, who after looking speaking to the technician and valet er said that they had stringent vehicle checks to make sure that this sort of thing doesn't happen, and no one admitted to it well evidently it does happen , and still gets missed or swept under the carpet

They agreed to get it sorted, a dent fixing company came to my house today to sort it, now Ive been told by them it has to go back to the dealers for the tailgate to be stripped down first Evil or Very Mad

Another trip to the Censored dealers Evil or Very Mad

Moral to this story, regardless what the weather is doing outside,or what the delivery driver says, check, check and double check some of my Previous cars

Easier said than done. These minor dents sometimes cannot be seen unless the sun light catches the contour of the panel just right, and therefore are often missed on both the dealers and the owners inspection.

Luckily they have accepted responsibility in this instance. Many car dealers, after the vehicle had been away from them for one week, would not entertain paying for the rectification. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Last time my sport was in the dealers having W/tee work done they managed to scratch the N/S/R qtr and the R/O/S door and wheel arch.

They asked me to bring it in so that their "scratch man" could fix it, to which I replied "if you think I'm going to bring my car back to the garage that scratched it in the first place to attempt a repair you must think I'm f11ck1ng stupid, I'll have the paint repaired at reasonable coat and send you the bill"

Cheeky twits!

No doubt there will be a flurry of new marks to please me if and when I ever collect it!

To be fair Doc the dealer isn't going to do my dent, another company will do it but at the dealers place, if i am not happy with the repair i will have it repaired else where and then seek reimbursement some of my Previous cars

You've been unlucky Envoy (and Doc).., but also very fortunate that the dealer has accepted responsibility. Once the car's off their forecourt, the odds are that they'll deny all knowledge and not cough-up.

I remember pointing out a scuffed-up door mirror when collecting mine which the man insisted was "already there" when it arrived? Rubbish! I'd washed the car the previous day after which it only sat in the driveway and hadn't moved or been touched! Luckily it polished-out, but you're right about checking the car on collection. I've also had an alloy scuffed whilst in their "care" but they did get that done.

However, it makes you wonder what else they do to your car when your back's turned??? Shocked MY12 SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ebony/Piano/Sidesteps/Privacy/Overfinch Olympus/JLR DRLs

Hi all

Mine has just been into Hadleigh Green LR for some minor warranty work and when the driver returned it, he told me that the windscreen had got a stonechip on it on the way around the M25. They had had autoglass repair the chip with their sealer but told me straight away that if I wasnt happy with that they would have a new windscreen put in when the car was next with them.

As it has to go back in for the rear view mirror module to be replaced (they couldnt get hold of the module last week) they're going to replace the screen then at no cost to me. They collect the car and return it, leaving me with an FL2 or Disco3 in the meantime so the its no inconvenience to me.

As Brian said it would have been very easy for them to deny all knowledge and not accept responsibilty fo rthe chip, so full marks to Hadleigh Green LR for pointing it out and sorting it out.

Tonse

It's bad enough that the car needs to go in in the first place but damaging your car adds insult to injury!

They need to appreciate the cost of these cars and what you have to do to get them Twisted Evil
