United States 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
22 WHEELS

Has anybody had problems with their RRS after installing 22' wheels? Are u guys bringing the RRS to the dealers with the 22' wheels on or putting the stocks back on due to waranty isssues? They made me sign a contract/waiver that if i put on aftermarket wheels it can void my warranty, but it talks about the TPMS which we dont have so kinda strange maybe they are just trying to cover their butts. Confused

On a sidenote I went back to the dealer the other day and saw 2 brand new RRS for sale with 22' aftermarket wheels (Momo and Anterra) sitting in the showroom. And then I see about 5 range rovers at the service dept with 22' wheels getting serviced. Confused Shocked Surprised

So I'm not sure what to think here. Confused

But I am definitly getting the wheels no matter what! Very Happy

Thanks in advance for any thoughts and replys. '06 RRS SC BLACK ON BLACK ON BLACK 22' HRE'S

Don't know anything on TPMS.

But I would take some pictures of the vehicles (with big wheels) for sale in the showroom, showing very clearly all details. Take some pictures of those vehicles being serviced also. Make sure the premises can be identified as the dealer's in the pictures.

Use these pictures to make some big noise should the dealer trouble you with regards to your 22" wheels. Malaysia Boleh!

I think I will do that next time I go there with my camera phone so I can be low key. Cool TPMS is the tire pressure monitoring sensor that I believe is on other Land Rover vehicles. Out of curiosity did anyone else have to sign a contract/waiver????? '06 RRS SC BLACK ON BLACK ON BLACK 22' HRE'S

In the USA, the only way a warranty repair will not be covered by the manufacturer is if your modification was the direct cause of the failure. (See: Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.) There is no way to just simply "void your warranty" because you made a change.

The reason dealers make people sign stuff like that (waivers, etc.) is to prevent you from suing them if something does go wrong. (Welcome to the litigious USA!) You are doing something "non-standard" from Land Rover's point of view -- and they want proof you know it.

Good point. I think LR should look very closely at this esp. for the US market and should offer such wheels as an option.

I've been advised to stay clear of 22" wheels on the RRS. To get the correct rolling diameter i.e. approximately 730mm, you need to use a 30 profile tyre, which is arguably too low for a 2½ ton car. You could use a 35 profile tyre, but that give a rolling diameter of 760mm, which is too big.
Running 30 profile tyres on Britsh roads, you're going to get through no end of wheels through hitting pot-holes etc. Crying or Very sad
Actually, I also think they look rather silly, but that's just my opinion Smile

I purchased my RRS new from a UK main dealer who supplied the car with optional 22" Overfinch Tiger Alloys. The car was on display on the forecourt of the dealership when I collected. After 12,000 miles all the wheels are as new and unmarked and the car drives and handles well. If driven properly the wheels should be safe from damage but judging by some of the cars I have seen even the smallest diameter wheels would be kerbed by some drivers!! RRS TD6 HSE, Java, Ebony, Rhodium, Overfinch Tigers, Privacy, Adaptive Lighting, Bluetooth.
Replaced by BMW 5 series M Sport Touring in Black with 19" Alloys.

In fairness, if you live in a town then you're far less likely to damage your wheels through day-to-day driving. OK, you can jam your wheels up against the kerb when you park but that's avoidable if you look what you're doing, as John says. However, if you live in the sticks (like me) many's the time you'll run into potholes & rough country lane shoulders and it's quite easy to scuff your wheels without even knowing it.... just my 2p.
