Well today went to open the boot and nothing happened ,locked the doors and opened them but still not the tailgate opening, took it down to my local dealer they unlocked the tailgate eventually and then they couldn't shut it so they stripped off the back panel and said they would have to order a new latch as they called it,this will probably be here next Wednesday,so you can imagine what a pain this is now leaning over the back seat to get something from the boot.

It sounds like the tailgate latch is not fully engaged. This would make the car think that the tailgate is already open, hence the electronic lock mechanism will not release what it thinks is already open. Also, the upper lift glass will not open if the main tailgate is 'open'.

This happened on mine a few times - especially if you hadn't slammed the boot shut. I had to push the hatch really hard to engage the lock,so that I could then unlock it. A nuisance really.... |

I have had this and found that the elec opener on the keyfob is easiest quickest recovery - it seems a light closure only half locks but I found the fob opener the least taxing... |

Wouldn't work for me that way.... once the lock has got itself all arse about face, the keyfob doesn't work any better - in my experience of the problem anyway. |
