TAILGATE SEIZED

Well today went to open the boot and nothing happened ,locked the doors and opened them but still not the tailgate opening, took it down to my local dealer they unlocked the tailgate eventually and then they couldn't shut it so they stripped off the back panel and said they would have to order a new latch as they called it,this will probably be here next Wednesday,so you can imagine what a pain this is now leaning over the back seat to get something from the boot.
Has anyone else had this problem??? Range rover vogue 3.6 tdv8 Gone

It sounds like the tailgate latch is not fully engaged. This would make the car think that the tailgate is already open, hence the electronic lock mechanism will not release what it thinks is already open. Also, the upper lift glass will not open if the main tailgate is 'open'.

This may sound a bit strange, but have you tried pushing the lower tailgate shut as hard as possible whilst someone else presses the release button? This helps the lock mechanism to "see" the latch and the lock mechanism will then operate.

Ultimately, the tailgate lock may need replacing or resetting. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

My wife suffered a similar problem with ours recently.

The tailgate wasn't quite shut when she locked the car. The tailgate could not be opened by any means.

Land Rover Assistance came to help and were familiar with the problem. The bloke used a couple of small airbags to lift the gate whilst he fiddled with something else and managed to free it all up. Sounds like a design fault.

This happened on mine a few times - especially if you hadn't slammed the boot shut. I had to push the hatch really hard to engage the lock,so that I could then unlock it. A nuisance really.... Confused

I have had this and found that the elec opener on the keyfob is easiest quickest recovery - it seems a light closure only half locks but I found the fob opener the least taxing...

Wouldn't work for me that way.... once the lock has got itself all arse about face, the keyfob doesn't work any better - in my experience of the problem anyway.

Mine broke first day.
Pushing the unlock and lock buttons together on the dash hold for about 5 secs should sort it but obviously a design fault Evil or Very Mad Blick with blick windows, big wheels, tow bar for nickin, side steps for the tart, DVD screens for on the go porn, 22" Stormers black and polished... as a matter of fact just about every box ticked.....if I`m going down I`m going down BIG time.
