I'm thinking of buying one...

I love my TDV6 HSE - not fast but its quick enough for this type of vehicle - and it is great on juice - residuals are very good! Plus mine is 4 months old and an 07 MY so no gains there!

I would love the TDV8 HSE more - fast, But thirsty, more of a don’t like filling her up, not $ but the effort and derv on hands, feet etc - residuals are untested really, I know there bullet proof today BUT when you look at other big engined diesels vs. smaller the big ones always seem to plummet i.e. tourag 3.0tdi vs. 5.0tdi, ML320cdi vs. 420cdi etc and with Ken and co. at the door I can't help but think they will fall out of bed - with a crash.

Having said all that I think I'll probably buy one in 8 months and get the full year or so out of mine Rolling Eyes

My views mirror yours Doc. My remapped TDV6 gives the perfect blend of performance and economy, great residuals, and I cant see a lot more to be gained by the TDV8 except additional financial outlay and higher fuel costs. Other marques dont come close and depreciation is scary.

Having said that, I will probably consider a TDV8 when I've had this one a full year. Question

Then of course when will LR add Hybrid power to the diesel line up Question When I bought my TDV6 last year LR wouldn't even confirm there was a TDV8 in the pipeline.

Performance with economy.........Lower tax........... TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Sorry ladies, once you drive the TDv8 there no going back. As to fuel ecomony, I dont much difference from the tdv6. I tended to find that I pushed the TDv6 a lot and that screwed the Mpg, whereas in teh tdv8 its a delicate little push on the loud pedal , and boy all thoses startled BMW drivers.

One thing though drriving a Java black with stormers RRS tends to not get much respect less then whwn I had the FFRR. what I mean is the guy inthe outside lane tends to hang there when the RRS sport is on his tail (not at night though, too much sweat buildup on the back of his neck)

As to residuals, well talk amongst yourselves here, I suspect the TDv8 will have the better resids because it is the engine the RRS always needed. TDv6 are for Discos.
