United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
Cruise Control Issue

Anyone experienced this issue before ?

I was driving along normally at 70mph today on cruise control and was using the button keys on the steering wheel to decelerate slightly. Tapped the "-" to take the speed down a couple of notches and the orange dashboard cruise control light disappeared off the dash.

I was not be able to reset the cruise control using any of the steering wheel buttons.. and potentially may now be a fault for the garage to fix... Have had no problems in the past using the + and - keys using cruise control ?

Any ideas ? Range Rover Sport TdV6HSE Bonatti Grey 20" FE Stormer wheels, Privacy Glass, Mats, Boot Mat, black badges, SC grille and vents

Hi Smudge,

Sorry not had this problem or remember reading about it on here over the last year - think the dealer needs to take a look Confused

Would expect that to 'sort' it but interested to hear what happens...

Five bucks that your cruise is now working fine and probably won't act up again for a long time. Happens to me also every blue moon (perhaps once every 3/4 months, and I use cc pretty much every day), the dealer is unable to find a fault message recorded, therefore unable to reproduce and fix, so I have learned to live with it.

Land Rover must have a patent over these "adorable" electronic gremlins that pop up every now and then. Sometimes I think they program these failures to happen in the electronics at random every so many days, it wouldn't feel like a LR without them. Wink

Mine has cut-out twice on me now. Working fine then will not resume after touching the brake. Works fine after a "reboot". Just one of those things...

happened to me last year. If you pull over, restart it works again until you touch the decellerate button. The dealer/service took it in, said there was a problem with the button contacts and fixed it. I've had it back in again for steering wheel button issues again, this time also radio/cd in addition to crusie control. They fixed it again, claim it was again bad contact. RRS TDV6 (gone)

ok - tried it on the way home as umbertob said - restarting car sorted it out initially.

However, when tried I it again on the decelerate button, same thing,.... it cut out.Sounds like it is a bad contact ... grrr... Range Rover Sport TdV6HSE Bonatti Grey 20" FE Stormer wheels, Privacy Glass, Mats, Boot Mat, black badges, SC grille and vents

Sounds like your clock spring ("rotary coupler" in LR speak) needs replacing - not uncommon in 'early builds', although I'm sure LRCS would deny that anyone had suffered the problem.

I've had mine swapped under warranty for exactly the same reason, although the problem can also manifest iteself as failure of the audio control buttons or airbag warnings.

If the dealer claims to be unable to replicate the problem, I found that pressing on the '+' or '-' buttons half a dozen times would usually cause CC to switch off and remain unresponsive until 'reboot'. Haven't seen a TSB on the issue, so nothing 'official' to quote to the service desk.

Before my RRS HSE, I had a Golf Mk6 TD. The same thing happened to me with it, and, after speaking to VW service, it was put down to low fuel. It seem the car knows it was low on diesel, and at a certain level you had to run the car "manually". As if to keep your attention on the instruments more, and hence see your feul was running low. Might be the same thing. WHO KNOWS!!! Hope this helps.
