Sirius Radio

I've had my new RRS into the dealer for a radio/antenna replacement, but it still has a failure of the Sirius Radio whenever the temperature drops below 40 degrees F. It'll start working again if you park it in a heated garage for a while. Any ideas other than moving to a more favorable climate?

My Sirius comes in great at recent temps of 0 F. Very quick 'lock' after backing out of the garage, and no 'drop-outs'. You must still have a defective antenna or some other connection needs attn.

What did they really fix or replace? Are you sure they really did something? Smile

Well, I am not sure they replaced anything but they kept it two weeks and said they did. I called them again, of course, and they said they would research it further and bring in back in. In the meantime, we are having a heat wave. I have been able to narrow the temp at which it switches off to aprox 37. It is sort of an amusing problem as well as frustrating.

Sirius Radio Repair

Finally, my Sirius Radio is repaired. To re-cap, it had intermittant failures which appeared to be related to sub-freezing temperatures. Antenna replacement did not repair it, but now a replacement of the module has solved the problem. Unfortunately, our very warm winter impeded repair since it was difficult to appreciate a problem with temperatures above 32 degrees. It was cold today, and I had great reception.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is Sirius ? Is it specific to the U.S.?

It is a Satellite Radio with multiple channels of uncensored programing. I think it is only in USA and Canada, but I am not sure. It is an option on US RRS.
