Its not fair! UK is a ripoff for everything! Its £65k for a brand new S/C? £30k saving!!!! I say we blaim Tony Blair and bring back my good friend Mrs Thatcher but yeah Now we know why they can afford to fuel the thirsty beasts! They're saving £30k on fuel!! And they're fuel is cheaper...no offence to any americans but you complain at the prices we could only dream of Thats unbelievable, I think I'll have to have a look at the US site now Michael Potter Rangey Lover/BMW Driver Last edited by MikeP on Thu Feb 15 2007 3:25pm. And LR are meant to be a British marque... all very disappointing. It's the same for all European cars though. It's ironically much cheaper to buy them out there simply down to the taxation.

tbh the 'real' cost is around the same for them (for the car, not fuel) |

Actually another way similar to what your saying tax wise is what we were planning on doing is for example if you are an xpat (in UAE anyway) you can buy a car there, keep it for 6 months as a personal car and when you ship it back you can shove off a huuge chunk of the taxes Michael Potter Rangey Lover/BMW Driver |

Depends what you do. IT worker wages tend to be higher in the US than they are here. And cost of living is regional... if you decide to live in Orange County or in the DC metropolitan area, expect big costs. Elsewhere, I'd be better off living in the US, doing the job that I do (I know this because I nearly moved to the US a while ago and did a fair amount of research around it).

Yep, it's not Land Rover's fault, it's all about taxation and politics. At least the Yanks have the sense to keep their borders tightly closed and not welcome-in eastern european pikeys and third world rubbish!!! |

Their equivalent to eastern europeans are Mexicans though... Difference is everyone gets put to work and I believe the welfare state doesn't look kindly on sponging s.
