At least...here in the U.S. the Land Rover cargo box has to be positioned so that it covers no more than 50% of the fin...otherwise the satellite radio signal does cut out quite often, but it doesn't affect the GPS Satellite signal...

With a long Thule box though, if it is narrow rather than wide, you can position it off to the side, rather than dead center...that should help with the radio signal...and you can experiment to see if it messes with the GPS... PJPR

Plastic roof box shouldn't block the GPS signals - what you put in the box might though if metallic - even so the fin should only be masked to overhead satellites, those closer to the horizon would still be OK and you would probably still get enough for a fix. Cheers

Since I've had my expo rack on the quality of the phone calls has deteriorated. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Do you use the phone cradle VA? Or do you connect to the car via bluetooth? Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I wouldn't dream of telling you something like that VA.

But I am surprised that the expo roof rack effects phone reception as I thought the rack finished short of the fin. So shouldn't block the signal in any way. Confused Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. The GPS antenna is in the rear upper stop light housing, so you've got a few more inches to spare. The fin is used for the PTI cradle and satellite radio services.
