Hi MDP. Yes, he had a knowing smile on his face when I raised the issue of mine necessitating ear-defenders and valium every time they unexpected leapt into action sensing a molecule of moisture in the air!!!

Firstly, he did say they keep a special fluid in the workshop for removing the build-up of deposit left on the screen by the blades which wont come off with normal washing. But I've already had that done on my crap rear wipers and the problem still returned after 4-5 weeks. He also acknowledged the new blades were a different compound, but I didn't bother with the "warranty arm-wrestle" as they're not in stock yet. I think the smirk gave the game away, bless!

How come the boys over the pond have so many alternatives when we've only got poxy Halfords??? Mad

The Valeos that I used are made in France, so I hope that those over the other side of the pond have easy access.

They are alson on Amazon.com -- I assume they will ship anywhere.

I am also interested in the post mentioning some cleaning fluid to remove the wiper residue. I too have a haze on my winshield that does not come off with normal cleaning. If you have a lead, please pass it on.

Thanks all.

Hi NYC. Yes, it must be a mildly-abrasive compound which did indeed initially prevent smearing, but the problem returned, thus proving it's the blade rubber. My car's at the Stealer's now for a few days warranty work (as always) so I'll ask the guy when I collect and see if it's a LR product or just a proprietary brand.

Thanks for the front wiper information. I'll give Valeo a try, if LR wont replace mine under warranty.

Hi MDP. I think I'll have the warranty discussion with the Stealer first, but if that's fruitless I'll give your lead a try. Please update with price, etc. I do remember the wipers are really hard to lift off the screen when washing- do you think it's going to be a pig of job to change blades? Sad

I've just had my arms and blades replaced under warranty, which has fixed the problem for the short term Smile
However, they have also ordered some new "special" blades for me that aren't yet on general release Confused

I've also had the loadbay cover relaced again under warranty due to it not retracting properly. It is now akin to Arkwright's till and will have your fingers off if you're not careful Laughing .....much better Thumbs Up

My driver's door window has been dismantled, re-lubricated and re-assembled and it is now much quieter and quicker. Thumbs Up

I'll post the full details of the work done on a more appropriate thread.

Paul
