2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

They are gas struts and yes the cold weather doesn't agree with them as the gas contracts. I'm only 5ft7" and have always thought that the tailgate didn't seem to open very high - it opens high enough for me not to bang my head on it but I often wondered if it shouldn't open higher 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My Sport is now just over six months old, therefore mid May 05.

Yes, it could be the cold weather, but I'm sure it was doing it before and has been gradually getting worse. Matt

Despair not everyone about the gas struts.

I noticed my dad's P38 Range Rover is suffering the same problem at the moment in the cold weather, he said it too has only just started happening, and his car is 4 years old.

It's the cold weather and nothing else, don't bother yourself getting the dealer to look over it, the only thing they can do is replace them, which will make no difference I expect.

Satisfy your curiosity by going to the dealer and asking them to open the tailgates on all the cars they have outside on a cold day and see what they all do. Very Happy L319 D4 HSE

This is obviously a big problem, I've hit my head several times and it hurts. We should put preasure on the dealers to get LR to look into this and design/ fit new ones. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Must be worth at least £1million in product liablity....................... or you could return the car as unsuitable for tall people to use! At 5ft 7 I have no problems whatsoever! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

A friend of mine was on the design team and I know he worked on the tailgate so I'll mention it to him and see what can be done.. better to hit the problem at source I think, the dealers won't have the same clout.

Mine are doing the same thing. they are getting weak. I dont know if it is the weather but that is a crappy excuse. The ones on my escalade are 4 years old and if anything are too strong. Poor choice of parts IMO.
