OBDII Port

Hey guys I've had a Check Engine light come on a while ago. I goes on and off ocassionally. Well I went to the store to pick up OBDII reader because the nearest dealer is 200 miles away, and I don't want to even bother with that. Does anyone have any experience using one on the RRS? I read the instructions and inserted the connector into the port when the ignition was off then turned the key to the "on" position and waited, but it keeps having a communication error. I tried the reader out on a different car so I know it works.

Does anyone know if there are special instructions for using a generic ODBII reader on the RRS?

Thanks,
Zipperman19

And no it's not a gas cap problem, its been on and off for a few thousand miles.

OBDII ports on the RRS use mainly canBus fault reading...you may have an OBD reader that only uses 'K' Line (and older format) so check with your supplier :-0)

Thanks LRtuning, I'll go back to the store tomorrow and see if I can find the right one.
