Slingbox

40 today, and one present was a Slingbox. Wonderful.

Connects to A/V equipment in the house (Sat box, DVD, etc - including IR remote control) and also has an internal DVB tuner, and then streams the signal over the internet to a PC/laptop/PDA or 3G phone. Means I can watch the tele when anywhere in the world. Eats bandwidth so heavily dependent on the connection, but a great toy and one more reason to do less at work.

I'm a Mac user. In fact, I'm having trouble getting the PC to work properly with all the blasted, but necessary Firewall/virus/phishing/spam protection.

I had a problem too with my router....I rang the technical helpline at slingbox and they were excellent in advising how to alter the router settings.

I've watched the whole series of Torchwood in Australia....sad I know but an amazing bit of kit Smile

It works fine on my Mac and my daughter's laptop, but not from the desktop PC. Sure it's McAfee doing its stuff.

EDIT: Back on track - technical support were fantastic. Didn't work with the latest version of McAfee, but easily fixed.
