Heated steering wheel 2010 sport

Had the car in for new arms, Arb Bushes and 4 wheel alignment, Noticed afterwards my heated steering wheel has stopped heating, The orange light doesnt come on anymore when selecting switch and doesnt heat up, I have checked fuse 20 and thats ok, Does anyone know if the steering wheel may have been removed or adjusted when Wheel alignment is done? If not anyone any ideas as to how i check which component is needed? Thanks

No reason to remove the steering wheel to do 4 wheel alignment, may have had to calibrate steering sensor after replacing front arms though as I did have to on mine when arms done. Although calibrating the sensor will not centralise the steering wheel if it's out, I have seen the steering wheel removed and refitted to align the steering wheel rather than do it via track rod end adjustment which is actually far easier and the correct way, unless of course the threads are seized solid then they could done it that way because they couldn't be bother to free the threads off.

Cheers

Thanks for this info Col, I dont think its just a coincidence, The Garage i used uses an external guy that comes and does the alignments when required, I have asked if he would have removed steering wheel to do the process but said no within seconds of asking the question so hes not asked the guy if this was the method or not, There is a chance the threads were like that with it been 15 years old, Im hoping hes knocked a connector inside and i can just push it back in, I have not had an issue with it for 10 years so i dont think its a coincidence, Does the airbag come of easy enough for me to take a look inside at connections, The car also came back sounding like a train due to them catching my dust shields but i can deal with that, I just want to sort the HSW if i can.

Not difficult to remove airbag if needed just need the tool to release it, or might be able to make your own using a bent wire coat hanger, from a safety point of view disconnect the battery and leave the car for a while for any electrical energy to dissipate, just make sure to leave a door open as you disconnect the battery as it may lock the doors and you out of the vehicle.

This is for the 2005-2009 Sport but the principle is the same for the 10-13 to remove the airbag at least.

Or could try this one, although have to admit I have not really watched either.

Tried it today and the orange light came on, Warmed up a few minutes then the light went off, Did this a few times, Im ruling out a loose connection and think it might be connected to battery voltage level, As it comes on after the cars been running a few minutes now before switching off again, Does this sound plausible or could it be faulty switch packs/heating wire etc…

There is a small control module for the heated steering wheel located under the airbag, unfortunately I don't think it is listed as a separate item from L/R but part of steering wheel assy. Not saying that is your issue, just saying it's there and may be a possibility it's playing up.

Cheers
