Census - Your top 5 RRS issues / problems

Trying to get a list of the top 5 (and only 5!) most common RRS issues. Might help when you go to your dealer and they tell you your problem is unique! If we get enough responses, I will compile some stats and post back. I'll start the ball rolling in the following format;

Build date : Sept '05
Engine type : Diesel
Transmission: Auto
Country : Australia

1) Steering vibrations / feedback / shimmy - poor dampening
2) Harmonic vibration at highway speed - something out of balance
3) Rasping noise in engine / transmission
4) Poor fitting interior panels
5) Various paint defects / finish

Let me know if this has all been done before Rolling Eyes RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

Low Power Mode for the Radio/Sound System when the engine is off! I can't believe I have to turn on the engine to get full volume.

In my old P38 I could roll down all the windows (one-touch by the way) - hit the power button for the radio - open up the doors and crank up the volume!

You're forgetting that the P38 was around in those halcyon days of when we were allowed to do what we want. Not the same anymore, is it? Wink

My car has just been serviced and appears to be running pretty well Very Happy Some of my gripes are perhaps aimed at overall improvements/suggestions.

Better tyre design inorder to help protect the alloys

More use of luxury stitched leather throughout................

Better PTI/Blurtooth operation - in fact just better bluetooth!

More "cubbyhole" storage space - maybe overhead ?

LR "Approved" aftermarket tuners.

Most annoying problem so far is during heavy rain the windscreen wipers sweep all the water off the screen and down the drivers window making it impossible to see the wingmirror (pretty scary on the motorway) Even my old series 2 disco had mouldings to prevent this!

Woolie, I suffered exactly this problem last Wednesday in heavy rain and driving down the M6. I couldn't see anything in the door mirror because of the airflow round the A pillar. Help is at hand though as you can get an aerofoil perspex deflector that fits from many of the after market suppliers for parts of Land Rovers. cheers tim - are they unobtrusive? I mean, they won't make me look like an old pleb? I've seen Range Rovers with wind deflectors, towing caravans driven by Victor bleeding Meldrew!

Woolie, you are only as old as you feel, I wouldn't worry about how they make the car look if they work - I haven't fitted any to the RRS but I see loads of Defenders and Discos with them. There are different makers, climair are not the only one, just they are the only folks I can remember! Getting Geeky here....... The barery is a Gel battery which unfortunately never charges back to 100% on the alternator if it's gone flat. If at some point in the vehicles life the battery went flat (perhaps being prepared for you at the dealer), and they didn't trickle-charge it (with a specific Gel battery charger) then it won't be 100% efficiant.

This is quite common and can show 'Low Power' even after a long journey if you've had other electrical consumers on at the same time.

So, give it a good charge, but make sure you use the correct charger! Wink TDV8 HSE in Java/Ebony with Zebrano Wood, RSE, Hybrid TV, and a few other bells and whistles.

Off Topic .....come on you lot, how's a stats man suppossed to work anything out here!! Shocked

By the way, just got my motor back from dealer again (after 3 days for exploritory surgery) and apparently my top 3 issues are due to my dodgy torque converter Rolling Eyes . In for another three days in two weeks to get it replaced.......arrghhhhhh, will this ever end? Mad RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof
