RRS 2012 autobiography rear entertainment screen issues

Hi all recently purchased my first RRS, I’m working through a small list of things that need some attending to I’m looking to see if anyone has come across this issue previously or might be able to provided some advice on the issue.

The issue being the colour on both the rear screens isn’t right, they are showing up yellow and blue neither screen are the same I have attached a photo for better understanding, the screen on dash works as intended so only seems to be related to the rear screens.

I suspect this could just be due to the displays being old and there was also a fault code when scanning. I’ve checked the wiring to the unit that’s under drivers seat all seems as it should be and took at look to the module in the boot but with lack of information on this issue wasn’t really sure on what I needed to be looking checking but all cabling looked in their positions.

REM-Rear Entertainment

B1285-88 - Video input D - Bus signal/message failure - bus is off (6Cool But couldn’t find any information on this specific fault could this be causing the problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Hello

Hi,

I have a 2010 Autobiography Sport which has rear entertainment.

My problem was my DVD player in the right side boot area, I had it refurbished by a guy on eBay, who refreshed a few items inside and got it working again. That coupled to me replacing the rear entertainment module also, cost me about £150 again off eBay from a good supplier (refurbished and updated).

Sounds to me like a video out issue if your getting problems with colour and weird effects on the screens?

If you remove the right side boot space side panel, you'll see a rectangular module, sat at the side of your DAB module, you might have issues with this internally, possibly try giving the video out leads a wiggle and see if that improves the picture. My guess it'll be one of either of these modules causing your problem.

My issue was, I had a blue screen with 'DVD error' on both headrest screens, like I said I changed both the module and the refurbished DVD player at the same time, and that fixed the problem. I had read that the side windows can allow water ingress if your unlucky enough and it drips onto the modules sat underneath, luckily mine were dry.

I can provide your with the eBay seller names if needed, but I'd try having a play with the connections first and see if that improves the issue you have.

I'm happy to help if I can

Cheers Dean

Thanks for taking the time to respond dean, I’ll take a second look at the module in the boot as you say it could well be a video out issue seeing as it is receiving image but with the colour distortion so possibly a faulty cable… I might look to find a new cable and quickly swap them out and see if that makes a difference failing that as you say it could be a modular failure. From what I saw today all appeared dry as a bone.

My understanding is that the main video source comes from under driver seats being sent directly to dash screen, and then the same video signal is sent to rear module where it’s processed and distributed to the rear screens.

I guess seeing as front screen works fine the under-seat infotainment module is working correctly and it then means there seems to be an issue from the rear entertainment module as you suggested with cabling or the module itself.

I will look for some information into the cables running to the rear screens so I can look to try a new cable to rule that out, I’m unsure if they run off a shared output or separate, if separate then most likely a issue with the module itself provided all that is well then I would just leave the screens but for that model replacements are not cheap!

I would be keen for the eBay contact just in case the module is fudged

Forgot to attach photo so here it is.

Thanks callum

Your rear entertainment module is in the drivers side rear boot space behind the panel under the side window in the rear.

The eBay seller was ‘stockclearancecbc’ who refurbish the modules via JLR I think.

Not sure if you’ll have the same module as I have, mine doesn’t have TV, only the 6 disc changer.

Module looks to be Vin No. dependant.

Link to wiring diagrams for Info & Entertainment system 12/13 cars, check pages 5-7 mainly I think.
