Heated steering wheel upgrade. Update, it works.

This is for my wife's 2015 L494.

I've just bought a heated steering wheel from a 2016 L494 and want to swap it with the original non heat one.

I have fuse 20 behind the glove box, it was already in the car fortunately.

I think I might also need to change the clock spring from what I've read. Advice on that much appreciated.

The new steering wheel also has paddle shift, the old one doesn't. So, what will I have to do to make that work? Assuming it's possible.

The only other difference is that the new one has what I think is adaptive cruise control on the right hand switch pack. I'm assuming I can swap it with the original.

Hopefully I'm not going down a rabbit hole here, but any advice is welcome.

Cheers. Les. A Cheshire expat in France.

I have ordered the clockspring today, so that's one thing off the list.
Fortunately, the heated wheel has the loom still intact.
Fingers crossed it works out. A Cheshire expat in France.

Update.

The heated steering wheel & clockspring arrived this morning. The weather is looking good for tomorrow, but, I couldn't wait. So I braved the cold.
It took me about 40 minutes, plus there was 10 minutes safety margin after disconnecting the battery first.

The wiring was all there in the loom and the good news is, it works.

What a fantastic result, I am really pleased.

Just for info', my wifes RRS is a Jan 2015 SDV6. The heated steering wheel was off an early 2016.
The clocksprings are the same if you buy for a 2015 but with the extra 2 pin connector socket for the heat.
Fortunately, the new steering wheel had the wiring loom in the wheel intact.
It also had the 2 buttons for adaptive cruise, which the car doesn't have, so I've blacked out the markings.
It also has paddles which I will try out later.

It's in really good condition and only cost me £125 plus delivery. The clockspring was £63 delivered.

I hope that helps those of you wanting this mod. Cheers.

I just took it for a spin and the paddles don't work. The heat is really fast and very good though. A Cheshire expat in France.
