07 RRS Security/Fob System

Just had an intruder in my house - looks like he was looking for the keys etc for our 2020 Golf R 7.5. They got the RRS fob instead and unlocked the RRS and rummaged through but doesn't look like they got anything.

Unfortunately the thief still has my RRS keys (and house keys, garage keys, letter box keys etc) so I have disconnected both +ive and -ive battery leads in case he comes back tonight to steal the car.

So tomorrow I will replace the house locks but not sure what happens with the RRS key fob. I have the spare so I can lock and unlock the car but so can the thief. So how do I change or get changed the security settings on either the car or my fob so I can lock and unlock the RRS but the stolen fob cannot. In due course I will get a new fob to replace the stolen one and get it coded to the car but is not urgent at this time.

Thanks

IF you have gap iid or autel ap200
Just go to reprogram keys. The gap should delete keys that aren’t present

Thanks Andy - I only have a code reader so cannot do any reprogramming but I have a good local service garage who deals with European cars and has all the test books etc - I can get him to do the reprogramming for me.

Thanks

I would remove the battery and take that indoors too.

Well first chance to check with a LR Indy - not as simple as we thought.

They need the car for a few days and need to get LR Tech support in to do the work. I am going to try else where.

Serious? This is maybe a 30-60 minute operation. You may even just be able to delete the key. We use JLR-SDD at the shop and this is a pretty straightforward operation. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Check if you have key cover on your AA/RAC breakdown cover. They should replace the stolen key FoC and can often handle re-programming etc. Worth having a chat with them.

Thanks - but it is not worth claiming on insurance as the excess that I will have to pay far exceeds the costs and my future premiums will increase.

Cheers

AA/RAC breakdown cover has the key insurance. This is different from car insurance and a key claim doesn't affect your NCD etc.
