Hi all

I just picked up a 2018 SVR today after a fair few years away from the RR world and first challenge lies ahead, it will not connect to my house wifi or my hotspot from my iPhone. It doesn’t find any wifi networks when searching and manual entry doesn’t work either.

When I connect my phone to the car and try and access Incontrol it says it’s not available, I have an active account and the Remote app is all connected fine etc.

I wanted to register my details in the navigation but it says I need a data connection but I’m struggling so far, didn’t want to sign on to a SIM deal when I’ve got masses of available data at home or via my phone and don’t intend to surf the net just wanted the connectivity all set up etc. and to check for system and nav updates.

Is it definetly connected to incontrol?

If I remeber right I was able to sign into the car with my details but still couldn't access stuff, I had to get LR to deregister the previous owner and sign in again......LR were and wouldn't do anything without a V5 either even though it states not proof of ownership across it.

The Nav side of things will need a data sim.

Nav updates are seperate aswell and cost more £££  Current

Yes it’s connected to Incontrol in the app/website, but can’t login in the car in the navigation section, it does have the previous owner recognised so I tried register rather than login, but then it said data connection needed to register.

In control is recognising my journeys in the app and website.

No I hoped to connect to my phone hotspot or my house wifi, is that the issue, it’s not possible?

Seems strange to have a feature to connect to external wifi then it doesn’t do anything

Not sure that helps, I definitely have an active Incontrol account, and navigation account, but can’t login to either in the vehicle because it needs an internet connection, which I can’t establish via external wifi and dont have a SIM card to try.

Im not trying to set up the accounts, just login to them in the vehicle.

I dont know why the vehicle can’t see any wifi networks at all, it just searches and finds nothing, even when I manually enter my home wifi network.

What iPhone do you have and version of iOS?

What version of the infotainment do you have?

iPhone XR at IOS 17.7

I dont think the previous owner is logged in, the car is active in the Remote App for me, I mistakenly thought I couldn’t login to the navigation system because it had the previous owners name, so was trying to register. I tried again just now and went past their name to enter my own email & password, but it still just says I need an online connection to proceed.

The car is active to me, I gave an Incontrol account thats 100% functional in Remote and Route Planner, I just can’t establish an internet connection at the vehicle because it will not find an external wifi networks to connect to. I simply thought I’d hotspot from my phone as I have 60GB of data and barely use any of it each month, but the car won’t connect. It’s not because it’s connected to someone else, it’s connected to me, Im not fully connected to it because of this problem.

The supplying dealer won’t be able to help.

One thing I noticed on the “about” section of the connectivity was the MAC & IEMI addresses were blanked out with dots rather than being visible, is this normal, is a “reset” required?

Do you not have a data sim that you can try?

It looks like you are plugged into the USB next to the drivers seat? This is for CarPlay or uploading maps from a USB stick.

Try using your phone as a hot spot unplugged, you can plug into the one next to the passenger seat for charging.

Do you have CarPlay? Your infotainment system should be on S22 if it is up to date.

Went out and got one this morning, activated it, git the confirmation it was active, inserted it, just says “mobile data not available”

Land Rover removed all owner info from the car, I reconnected it he car to my account before trying the SIM card option. Nothing is working, and still just fits for MAC & IEMI

I guess I have a problem with the telematics control unit or something then?

Have you tried using CarPlay? Then you can use Google maps or Waze and do not need any Land Rover subscriptions.

Sorry I missed that, yes CarPlay works perfectly. Not sure where to find the version though
