I have an intermittent fault with the passenger airbag light which will cause issues for MOT. Seen in posts move the seat backwards forwards etc. which works occasionally but that’s not what I’d call a fix.
I know the wires are under tension but wanted to know if anyone has dealer or tech experience of the cause. At the moment going to remove the seat and clean the connectors make sure the pins and wires all look ok.
It’s an absolute pain in the arse as it’s the only dash light I’ve got on which should be a super easy fix - hopefully!

Yes usually just dirty / pulled connectors - take the seat out and have a look under.
Mine did the same with the drivers and just needed a good clean up on the connector.

I'm pretty sure the side seat airbag looms were made too short resulting in the tension on the connector, try and free up spme cable and tie wrap it either side of the connector so there is no flex. There is an overlay loom available (had them done in my L405). The new loom is slightly longer and goes from the connector position under the seat to the airbag, you leave the old ends in place (just taped up).

Seat removal at the weekend looking the best option.

Just take the 4 torx bolts out and then tip the seat back and let it rest on the rear seats, that'll give you plenty of access to the 2 pin connector for the side airbag. They're gold plated contacts so don't be tempted to scratch them up.

Interesting point you made about the shortness of the looms previously. Any specific tool head required I’ve seen a vid where the guy uses a universal socket with those sliding pins, seemed to work but rather use something more precise really don’t fancy rounding off important fixings. Not sure if it’s an industry thing or manufacturer specific but airbag wires were yellow? (I’ll look out for the gold coating, much appreciated)

You just need a torx E12 socket. Slide the seat back and remove the front 2 bolts and then slide the seat forward and remove the back 2, then tip the seat backwards, no need to remove the seatbelt from the side fixing, just pull a bit of slack into the belt to allow the seat to tilt enough.

2 Pin connector is yellow and has a yellow/orange wire and violet/grey wire, both 0.5mm diameter, should be clipped in line with the larger connectors. As I said, just try and create some slack and secure it so it doesn't move with seat movement.

Quick trip to the shed for an experimental bit of improv.
it turns out an old 3/8” socket fits the seat bolt head like a glove. Means I can crack-on come the morning after a slight cricket club hangover. Absolute result. So far

Seat removal was fairly straightforward, over thought it with the connectors but after detaching and reconnecting the airbag connector it appears to have sharpened up the signal. Wires didn’t seem overly stressed but tried to flatten out the incoming feed.
After a quick drive the lights gone out which I’m super happy with, thanks again for the tips 👍

Yes, could try contact cleaner and then maybe a dab of dielectric grease. Have you checked fault codes to check it is a high resistance fault?

Tested a few weeks ago and it wasn’t even showing as a fault. Checked again now on the basic OBD code reader and no DTC faults. Went for the delete option anyway and the light has gone out not sure if that’s connected to clearing or not…..
Looking at how to de-pin and re-pin in case that is flakey
