Startung trouble: key won't turn. When it does, it cranks wi

Hey guys. I'm new to this. I have a 2005 RR Sport Supercharged. 110 K miles. Had a brand new V8 engine installed a couple of years back. New starter-motor installed too, separately (can't remember if before or after) by a mobile specialist who came to the house. Been having trouble getting the key even to turn in the ignition. Full battery helps but cranks energetically without firing. Used to occasionally fire and run for a few seconds before cutting out. Lots of fuel in the tank. Anyone got any ideas?? Oh yeah, yesterday I plugged into the diagnostics socket a very basic code-detecting device. The two codes I'm getting are P0657 and P0700. Any ideas, guys? It just occurred to me to turn the key to ON and listen for an electric fuel pump clicking sound, right? To eliminate that possibility....Anyway, cheers all!

Google the two codes and start from there. It’ll give you some areas to read around and apply to your car.

Let us know how you get on.

P0657 is "Actuator Supply Voltage A circuit/open" i.e. high resistance. Manual suggests running through the guided diagnostic routine. So you need someone who has a suitable proper diagnostic equipment.

P0700 is a transmission control system fault.

Best advice is take it to a specialist LR independent (not a main dealer) who can look in to it properly. Otherwise you're chasing smoke at this stage. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

All those codes do seem to be related to the transmission control module.
