Which refurb kit do you have? I used Frenkit and am happy with them. They use hard anodized aluminum pistons opposed to the chrome plated aluminum pistons that come stock.

Yep - same as yours. The chrome pistons are rubbish and flake. Surprised BREMBO use them at all. |

I installed upgraded DBA rotors and pads om my 2010 TDV8, which made a significant difference in braking performance. Is there any real point in installing Brembo 4 pot calipers. |

I did it because I got the calipers for free and I like the appearance. I feel these are a marginal improvement over the stock sliding two piston calipers, but that’s my opinion. I know if I want a real improvement I’d need to go with the six piston calipers and larger rotors, but that entails more money and work. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

The point is that they look cool, brake a tad better - not that I’ll really be testing them very often, will add a small amount to the value when I sell and for the cost of them, it was a no-brainer.

The pads that came out of the Brembos are these https://www.diycarserviceparts.co.uk/ferod...r-car.html Ferodo FDB1966. Are these the same as for the standard sliders ? |

The Brembo's do not have sliders if that is what you mean, so the pads are different.

Aha - thanks Col. the pics I was getting for Brembo pads were similar to the standard set up (banana shaped).

I'm not convinced the 4-pots make much, if any, difference having had both types. Unless you're driving the thing like you stole it, of course, and even then, it's probably more mind than reality. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Not sure there's really that much difference between the 4 pot and 6 pot brembo's either under normal braking and driving conditions after having had both the TDV8 and 5.0L S/C with the brembo's, obviously the 6 pot's are a little better if you have to really stand on them. Premium tyre's would make a good contribution to braking as well rather than some cheapo Chinese ditch finders that some appear to run.

Quality tyres vs cheap rubbish will make a bigger difference to reducing stopping distances in an emergency stop - plenty of evidence out there shows that. As for 4 or 6 pot calipers, unless you're doing the equivalent of track days with your RRS, you're unlikely to get close to needing the extra pad area that the bigger calipers provide.

75% of the reason I installed them. I also needed new pads, rotors and a sensor anyway, so only real added cost was to completely rebuild and paint the calipers which wasn’t that much to do. I also rebuilt and sprayed the rear calipers to match and put in new pads, rotors and sensor as well as fresh DOT 4 LV fluid. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory Born and raised in So Cal. Moved to the UK in 2018 for a few years. Now in Poland and looking at moving back to the UK. |

6 pot's standard on the S/C so cost me nothing.
