Just thinking about the gear selector are they interchangeable between all the L320s irrespective of engine size ?

The one on my supercharged is gear selector 6h32-7Z370 , I can’t see the supercharged gear selector on the net or eBay, it shows the 2.7 and the 3.6 but not the 4.2.

Wonder if the previous owner may have swapped out with the wrong one

I would like to think the selector is the same. They all use the ZF gearbox

Check it out on:

Fuse 63 is the diagnostic socket

Humm. Kinda see what you mean.
I can't find the selector in the parts catalogue.

I would check you have power at the plugs when the key is in, on Pos I

Will do once I get the BCM back in.

Sounds weird but I do enjoy the fault finding on Range Rovers.

I think the most I have learned about car maintenance and faults is with Range Rovers

BCM reassembled and back in car.

Phew…it starts !!

Still have the same issue…transmission fault as soon as drive engaged but lights on trick still works.

Scanned and coming up with codes
Usual P081C

Now have additional U0155 lost communication with cluster control module.

Are you PRND lights on yet?

There is a picture of what they should look like on the previous page. (nicked from someone)

Best to see if you have power at the selector on the +12v and Aux wires.

And then see if the red splice Mikey mentioned, is the same one you already redid.

U codes can usually be ignored. Unless they are present 100% of the time after a clear

PRND are only illuminated on the gear selector when the lights are on ?

Is that correct?

Will check the voltages at the connector on the back of the selector and at

the fusebox 44 and 33

*********SUCCESS************

I finally cracked it….
I did not have the permanent 12v on pin 8 of the gear shifter connector.
12v on the BCM fusebox so a disconnect on the purple/blue wire between the two.
The 12v leaves the BCM via pin 45 of the large blue connector bottom of the fusebox and onto the purple/wire.
I cut this wire 6 inches after the blue connector and ran an interception wire to the other cut end of the wire in the sil loom.
The gears now illuminate in PRND and sport/manual mode works with no transmission error.

Here are some of the pictures

I was unable to find any crimp joints so it was damaged in the loom as it travels up the A pillar and back down, maybe someone has worked in that area previously and nicked the wire somehow
