L320 3.0 2012, Suspension Problem.
Hi, having recently bought a 2012 SDV6 RRS and being my first one, I've noticed that it doesn't matter what height setting it is on the front of the car slowly drops height, I take it I must have an air leak perhaps at the front air block, but most importantly Ive noticed it has what looks like a air bag on the RHF that looks slightly different to the LHF and has wrote in marker pen TDV8,
Also the height of the front is different on each side by approx 5mm even at the rear,
Can I please have I thoughts on this please..
Is this safe, is this dodgy. Thankyou

Hi
Having just been through this with my 08 car I can prob give some tips.
knock up a soapy washing up solution in a spray bottle, raise the car to full height and give both front air struts and the air line connections a good spray and look for leaks.
If it drops at the front over night it could be the front valve block, airlines where they enter the front struts or the middle valve block.
I'm just wondering if PO fitted a used airbag but bodged the connection onto it - or the used item is leaking.
If the height is different side to side and front to back that's a calibration issue but deal with that lastly once its not loosing height. Once I fixed my issues I drove about for a month with it listing about 1" lower on the drivers side compared to the passenger side
Hope this helps

Many thanks for the reply MHSPORT08, did I mention that the Drivers side front strut has pink pen wrote on tdv8, has Continental stickers on it, could this have different damping rates to what looks like the original passenger side.

Personally I wouldn't run different manufactures of shocks and airbags across each axle (a bit like not mixing tyres across Left and Right on the same axle)
I think first find the air leak and then go from there.

Well, looked for air leak and it didn't take me long, I remember the previous owner said he put it in to a well known Suspension specialist, begins with P ends in S. As you can see by the photos the bracket for the heat shield wasn't even fitted correctly which was interfering with the brass coupling, ohh I removed one of the nuts from the three securing nuts,, ended up removing the strut and refitting the brass union into the top and refitting it, rebuilt tested all good, ohh and it's definitely had a second hand air bag strut fitted. I will change these at a later date Coz I'm sure I can feel the front suspension,, when braking hard loading up at different rates. There has to be a difference in rebound settings between SVD8 and SDV6.
