How much for a replacement front windscreen?

Well, I was in a position to be able to declare no claims within the last 5 years when I look for renewal quotes in March, but of course a flying stone cracked the front windscreen Censored .
I only have a £75 excess on my current policy, but I think I'm right in thinking that I have to declare a windscreen claim when I use Confused etc, so my premium will of course go up.
Does anyone know how much it would be if I pay for it myself so I can still say "no"?

My last windscreen replacement still comes up on my renewal list, but hasn't incurred a penalty.

Without actually asking the insurance company I don't have a definitive answer if it will attract any loading, but again maybe different companies have different views.
I'm guessing that it's going to be expensive so may just bite the bullet.

Things may have changed since last year, but I have never had to declare a windscreen claim on any comparison site. Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e

I don't think a windscreen will change your NCB, so I would claim.

I think these days you can do it through autoglass? and they handle the claim from the insurance. Very painless. (well that was Admiral)

The only worry you hear is that these companies will fit chineese manufactured glass, unless you are willing to keep turning them away a couple of times until they bring the correct one.
I think I read the genuine D3 ones are out of stock

Maybe the worry with the chineese ones is that heating elements don't last as long? don't know

looking at the documents, it seems Autoglass is used by my insurers.
I'll see if they use Pilkington's. Do they replace the A-pillar trims or just new clips?

Autoglass don't do Pilkington. They do some cheap thing from, I think, South Africa. You can try to get them to fit Pilkington but I wouldn't hold your breath.

They should fit new A-pillars. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for that, sounds about right. I suppose I should also speak to them so they know that its tinted, heated and has auto lights/wipers

Old and confused,

You’ll probably end up at Autoglass as they have the kit to re-calibrate your ADAS systems once they fit the new screen.

On SWMBO’s Defender HSE they fitted an OE screen too.

Ref:- NCB, it usually states that a windscreen claim does not affect your bonus on your p9licy documents.

From my experience, Autoglass won't fit OEM (Pilkington) on older cars - OEM on young stuff still likely in warranty.

If you want Pilkington, it's worth checking the windscreen section of your insurance document - some insurers will allow you to use a windscreen company other than their preferred one for an increased windscreen excess. SO it might cost you e.g. £200 in stead of £100 excess. But it does depend on the insurer. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Carglass just took the code of my old windshield, so all options were copied.
They normally use their own suppliers but if requested any windshield brand can be ordered.
The pillars were not replaced because with the technic used they don’t touch them.
Carglass business is to replace windshields and they know what they’re doing.
That’s more than I can say about LR mechanics…
My insurance premium didn’t go up, because windshield claims are omitted. SW

If it's a L320 it won't have ADAS so not a problem, they will have to remove both inner and outer pillar trims, as well as the lower windscreen scuttle panel, unless they replace the outer pillar trim make sure they renew the clips as there is a strong possibility the will break them when removing the trim, if not you will get wind noise, a rattle or loose the trim going up the road. Also make sure they refit the scuttle correctly otherwise you may get water in through the fresh air vent.

Cheers
Col
