2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bali Blue
Insurance renewal

Last year, my insurance was £20 less than the previous year; this year, it’s £140 more than last year. (Hope that makes sense)

Anyone else seeing a rise in their insurance costs?

Yikes! A quick look at the Interweb and it’s quite an issue with Land Rover products… I’ve not really been paying attention and some companies are asking for stupidly high premiums.

Looks like you have had a lucky escape……Mine more than doubled. Went up £420 from last year and couldn’t get it any cheaper anywhere else

I misread the quote, it’s gone up £101 to £297. Less expensive than some but OTOH, I’m now retired and don’t travel many miles each year. It still seems a lot for a 13 year old car though.

AXA cancelled my renewal 3 weeks before due date. Saying Not insuring R/Rovers any time.
Searched net..Some really silly money!
Lowest I could get is £1800 per annum. With also a £1500 access.
It’s some hike from the £380 I was paying AXA for the last three years.
( Sheila’s wheels ). Had to take it, it was cheapest by far Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Just renewed mine. It had gone from £280 to £428. Did a Meerkat and the cheapest came in at £350.

Called Churchill and by upping the excess by £250 they dropped the price down to £342.

Tax is also due shortly and that’s £350 as it’s pre March 2006.

All in all not too bad a price for such a lovely drive.

£1800? OMG! I knew the premiums were increasing but that is insane…

I've been looking for a new policy on a new RRS. Other than companies I've never heard of, so far only Admiral (I'm not keen on them) and JLR will offer any policy at all. Directline, AVIVA, LV, Churchill etc. all just a flat no. Seems like some will renew if already have a policy but no new policies.

I'm in a low risk rural area, low miles, middle aged, garage, 17 years NCB, no other issues right now.

JLR policy is about £3k which I feel is too much and I guess could increase. I have another similar, high end car from a different manufacturer which costs me about £350 a year.

I'd hope it would start to sort itself out a bit over the past few weeks as it does seem like a new RRS isn't especially at risk.

The companies that you have never heard of are probably the same underwriters as the ones you have heard of!

I have lost count of the number of times I have changed to a new provider and then find it is the underlying insurer. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

This is what JLR are saying publicly - the insurers aren't using the real situation when they're quoting. The latest RRS is seen as being secure but the insurers just see "Land Rover" and run away screaming. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I have just renewed (end Jan) with AXA, last year £580, this year £925 which whilst not the cheapest quote, it was close enough to remain loyal to AXA. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)
