Replacing pads with/without discs?

MOT has advised front pads are quite low
Garage has advised changing discs and pads as discs are lipped
Is this necessary?
Garage said you typically get thru 2 sets of pads for every set of discs
No idea on the history of my car in terms of discs/pads

I'm sure the recommended minimum thickness is 27mm,,, the discs being 30mm new. They should be measured to find out exactly how big this lip is. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Hi,

there is no absolute answer from the info you have given Confused

if DM had done the MOT and said do D&P's then I would not question it and book in to have them replaced

but you know where you took it for the MOT and how much you trust them Question

if it was kwak fat or someone I would get the discs measured (ISTR most have the min thickness stamped into the edge of the disc) by someone I trusted and then decide.

if you know what your doing you can decide but if not then you have to trust the garage Question

and if it was a main stealer then they are probably fine for another 6 sets of pads Laughing

DM's shorter answer works "if Worn Replace" Laughing

Its not only the lip but the surface of the discs that matters..if you are doing it yourself its a no brainer. I bought set of pads and discs for the rear for £93 so I am sure you can get a deal on front ones and easier to fit than the rear as you have no hand brake drum to deal with Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
