Can anyone tell me if the battery in the key fob on the RRS 2005 is charged when in use or exactly how it charges ?

The original key charges when it is in the ignition barrel. Which is why it's useful to use the spare key now and then to make sure it's battery is ok. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As above 100%. Try and rotate your keys rather than using one set and like all batteries there will come a time when it needs replaced. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

Thanks to all that responded . I think the general consensus was correct as after using the apparently "dying" key several times it appears to have charged itself up and I have had no further trouble from it.

One thing to note about the original keys is that each one has its own associated memory settings. So if you use both (as you should to keep the batteries happy) then you may need to set up the seat/mirrors for each key if you have more than one driver.
