I would assume this will be engine out, but don't know the seal type assuming one piece . M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |

When you say rear seal do you mean the pinion seal? Mine too leaked and is a common fault with these cars. I got mine done via an aftermarket warranty but I think the cost was around £700. |

gddmt, car just came back from a transmission service with ZF, and the tech, who used to work for JLR, tells me that the rear diff is leaking, probably the pinion seal again!

Turns out it was just a dislodged diff breather. While they were at it, I told them to change diff oil.
