England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Tim, I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) but my 90 is 21 years old and in need of a little C & A, due to the "off road" damage, I considered the above options and decided to take the 90 off the road and make a rebuild and like yourself I work away so do not have a great deal of spare time. With this in mind I have obtained a lock-up where I can take my time and rebuild at leasure, this unfortunately means I will have to restrict myself to mild "off roading" in the RRS until the build is finished, much cheaper than a replacement vehicle?
I'm sure your off road pals will let you play with there's in the mean time!

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Progress report:

Have just been to the dealers and discussed the situation with them and here is what they say:
TDv8 RRS is likely to go on sale in December as a seperate model in the range - ie no SE/HSE, just TDv8. There might also be a higher performance version of it as it won't take much tweeking to make an S/C bashing TDv8......... S/C owners watch out.
If anybody gets a Tdv8 before Christmas then their dealer will be in shtook as only demo cars will be avialable (but if I am desperate to have one then they would consider preselling me their demo). Likely deliveries will start in the Spring. Price for TDv8 RRS is £54000 ish which also puts it well out of my price league
The dealers have only one RRS in stock and cannot get them. The stock car is a 2nd hand S/C 1St ED in Zambesi with full colour coding and 22" Tigers.
They have offered me £38900 for my 13000 mile SE (cost new £40k) against a new D3 but even they are difficult to get hold of and delivery would be February for a factory order........ I wanted a white or Zermatt HSE or SE Auto, both with locking rear diff and all the G4 kit except the roofrack and intake
New Freelander??? - not a hope in hell - they have orders for many many F2's and automatics are not coming on line until the spring.
What about a run-out FFRR TD6 Vogue SE...... special deals are avialble and they could do something on the Zermatt one in the showroom.
Or what about a low spec TDv8 FFRR - they have sold their entire allocation of builds up to July 07 and are not taking orders. It appears 4.4V8 owners are leaving them in droves on the dealer's forecourts in exchange for TDv8's, it IS that good- so there should be some good deals coming up on last version V8 FFRR's! I spent 2 hours this afternoon driving their TDv8 Vogue FFRR and it really is a superb machine....... TD6 owners will get one hell of a shock when they drive one for the first time. V8 and S/C RR owners watch out this thing really really flies. It is indecently fast for a 2 tonne 4x4 with a diesel engine!
So it looks like my dilema is going to sort it's self out................ stay with what I have for the time being and wait to see what the New Defender is like in the spring!
You cannot even buy a current Defender or old style Freelander for any amount of money at the moment as well. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

Good!

Good price for the RRS, I wonder what I would get for my 16000 HSE with DVD? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

What discount were they offering on the D3?
Is an excellent PX value but there should also be a big chunk off of the D3, HSE's have gone for £38.5k although being as it would be a 07 car I expect discounts will be smaller.
Are they expecting the Defender to drive much different to the old one?

Stick with what you have VA, you will have a long wait for any LR product to replace it!
When I bought the Sport they told me it was likely to hold it's value extremely well - that has certainly proved to be true - I've never had better than 55% back on a car after 2 years so this is something new for a Land Rover! Tim I think you should still go for the D3, have one vehicle to do both jobs. Go for a white D3 with all the off road accessories, big tyres, snorkle, roof rack, tinted windows the works.

Even with the new defender I don't think it will be a very good long distance driver, so why have two insurances, 2 tax, 2 service, mind you I can talk I suppose Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well if it was me I would go for the D3 but I would say that because I own one now.

Listen no doubt the RRS is a fine looking motor but that is all it is.

do youself a favour dump the thing now.

Fiona, nice to see you on here again! Is that you posting over on D3 with the Stirling location?
I'm pleased that you like your D3. I have put new car buying on hold for the time being as LR doesn't seem to be making enough cars to satisfy demand at present - folks must be scared we are going to have a hard winter and all want a proper 4x4 to handle the 0.5" of snow we can expect! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You could try Macrae and Dick they seem to have a few new LR about the place or Frank Ogg in Elgin.
