recently purchased a 2017 RRS Autobiography, beautiful car but puzzled by one thing.
the satnav doesnt have traffic info - am i correct in saying that it needs to have a SIM card installed to do this? i have thought i could connect my iphone to do this but appears not to be the case. The inControl stuff i quite confusing and I am not sure i really need it .. but can see i have various 'subscriptions' included but unclear as to what they really mean .. Pro Services, Protect, Remote Premium and Secure Tracker ..

Think you may need a sim for the traffic data.

Remote premium allows you to lock/unlock and start it from your phone. You can also track it. You can also find other data about your journeys. This is £40 for the year.

Secure Tracker tells you if it’s been nicked but as I’m sure you’re aware the tea leaf’s can easily disable this. This is 250 for the year.

You’ll need an Incontrol account and then link your vehicle to it - you will be able to see what subs are active, but it’s probably none, as you’ve just bought it.

the subs were all paid for the first year so i'll assume i will get some prompt for renewal at the end of the 12 months. I already have a GPS tracker installed in the car as I had already bought one, probably woudl have been useful to know about the secure tracker already built in. There doesnt appear to be a way of 'seeing' this anyway when its NOT been stolen, maybe i am missing something!
SIM wise i was going to by an o2 one but all the plans seem to be from £10 per month, cant see any annual bundles available?

You should be able to see where it’s parked using the Land Rover Remote app and this also lets you lock /unlock etc.

Sim wise, I have an EE one from Amazon which gives 500mb a month for twelve months which is plenty.

Can you download map updates?

When my paid map updates run out, it stops downloading traffic updates until I renew - over 3G or WiFi. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

I’m not with my car at the moment, but I’m pretty sure map updates are by PC/USB only. That’s how I’ve always done mine.

Syl is pointing out that traffic info is part of the map update subscription.
