20" wheels fit over Brembo brakes?

Hi all

My L494 Dynamic (2017) came with the factory 22" wheels and red Brembo brake calipers.
If I downsized to either the factory 5007 or 520 style 20" wheels will these definately fit over the Brembo calipers ok?

As far as I know, all L494 models were fitted with the same Brembo brakes (some branded, most not) until around 2017/8 when smaller JLR brakes were fitted to most models. So, if the wheels are factory standard wheels, they SHOULD fit over the Brembo brakes. 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

When I bought my l494 new in 2016, I specified the Brembo brakes as an upgrade. The invoice lists them as 20” red Brembo brake calipers at an additional cost of £330. I also specified 21” style 507 alloys. I seem to remember that there was a need for a minimum wheel size to cover the bigger brakes, however, from the invoice description, looks like 20” was that minimum size. At the time, there was also a 19” wheel option as standard. 2016 L494 HSE

My p400 was fitted as standard with the large front calipers and 20" wheels. The £330.00 option was to pay for labelling the calpers Brembo and painting them red. Tim

In 2015, the larger Brembo brakes were an option, standard front brakes at that time were smaller. Sometime later, they standardised on front Brembos, whatever the colour. 2016 L494 HSE

Coedlan - not wishing to be argumentative but I believe this is not correct - I think ALL brakes on L494s until around 2017 were in fact identical Brembo hardware - the extra you paid for is purely for the branding and colouring of the calipers.

Put it this way, I'm a L494 nerd and I've never seen any L494 pre 2017 (at a push 2016 perhaps) without the Brembo brakes even if they aren't painted red with Brembo written on them...

I stand to be proven wrong and will graciously admit defeat! 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

The first non-Brembo L494 I saw was when my boss bought a SDV6 Dynamic in 2017/8 and I noticed his brakes were far smaller than my 2014 L494 when parked next to each other - I then looked into it on this forum and the general consensus is cost-saving by JLR. Shame as the Brembos are awesome brakes. 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

Colour and labelling aside, the standard front brakes on a standard sdv6 HSE in Nov 2015, were 350mm dia discs with 4 pot calipers (probably Brembo, possibly not painted red or labelled).
The upgrade was to 385mm dia discs with 6 pot calipers.
So in short, the upgrade was for bigger discs and calipers. 2016 L494 HSE

The 4 pot brembo's used 360mm discs, thought L/R dropped the 4 pots when they dropped the L320 TDV8's, not even sure that the last of the facelift L320 TDV8's had them.

Cheers

Worth noting they still fit even under standard L320 20 inch wheels:

Ok, I don’t agree with this but perhaps I’m wrong. Let’s see if anyone can post a picture of 4 pot front calipers with 350mm discs on a 2015 (or older) L494! 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

I think it's because you are using an iPhone?

The site does nothing to the image, but iPhones store the phone orientation in the metadata which is not part of the original industry standard
That's fine if the "viewer" knows about it, but the software running this site is fairly old and does not have that capability. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

EXIF specification supports 'orientation' tag since 2000, way before any iPhone, but it seems iPhones do it differently. OK, will be posting photos cleaned of tags, thanks! Regards etc.,

The 4 pot brembo's had 360mm discs or at least mine did, they also stopped fitting the four pot's when they introduced the facelift L320 2010-2013, if a L494 has them fitted the chances are it has been done after the vehicle left the factory. They are not even shown in the w/shop manual or listed in the parts list after Vin. 9A999999, but of course the parts list could be wrong as it is not unknown. More than happy to stand and be corrected on the subject though.

Cheers

Cheers all and so we can confirm that 20" wheels will fit ok over the Brembo brakes.
Now, whos had 22" and 20" (or even 21") and can compare the ride quality on typical British (not so great) roads?

Is there much difference in ride quality in downsizing from 22"?
