Two piece door handles question

Was going to buy the gloss black two piece door handles for my 09 Sport from PowefulUK for around £50 plus shipping to NZ, has anyone painted theirs if so what paint did you use, or is best just to buy them, cheers

Unless you are going to try to paint then in situ. you will be very lucky to remove the small part of the handle cover in one piece as they go together quite easily, but the retaining lugs quite often break when removing them. I bought a set from PowerfulUK for that very reason as I need the the small part when I changed a door lock/latch and was the easiest and cheapest option as L/R one's are supplied primed only, meant have a couple of spare ones left as well

Cheers

Thumbs Up the video I looked at didn't show them removing the small part, be interesting to see how they do it. Might be my mistake and they are different on the 06-09 to 10-13 cars.

These are the little bits that snap off, stupid when the front passenger door one is just made to flip off to unlock it.

Broke the tabs off of mine (MY2008) when removing. I did read later that the safer way to remove is by removing door car and window and closing the clips from the inside. I found cheap replacements on AliExpress.
If you want a cheap way to get gloss black finish, sand the paint off, sand with increasingly fine sandpaper up to about 1500/2000 then buff with a machine and good compound. Pete

I think I would give the idea of removing the door card etc. a miss and buy new ones. Rolling with laughter

The clips are a integral part of the moulding and not separate so will be on the new one's, if the small piece simply just pulls off why didn't they show it? would only add a couple of seconds to the video? Very Happy

Yep true, they didn't pull off the small piece incase they did break and would have to replace with new at there cost,I would say the intregral clips break 90%, have just ordered the skins so hopefully be here in 2 weeks, cheers.

I suppose to be fair really doesn't really matter much if they break if someone is fitting new one's.
