Access to front fog light - 2012 Red Edition l320

Eh up all.

I just introduced myself and dropped a post into My Sport section yesterday.

From the great information on here I persuaded myself to re enter Land Rover ownership again.

I need to access my fog lights, given I have an Autobiography front bumper do I need to remove this from the car or :-

Can I remove the grille and headlight and get access that way ?
Can I remove the front wheel and inner wing and get access that way?

All help greatly appreciated and I look forward to contributing on here - it looks like a great forum with lots of knowledge members

Thanks in advance 👍

As long as the screws underneath the bumper are not siezed, personaly I would drop the bumper off, really doesn't take that long and less trouble than taking wheels off and moving the wheel arch liner out of the way etc. etc. in my view.

Cheers

Many thanks- I take it access taking lights and grille out is a none starter ?

Will look at dropping bumper- just for experience with my X5 plastic clips and press fittings are not a good combination and I would hate to snap / break the bumper or fixings.

Thanks for the reply 👍

If I remember right I think the fog lights are held in with three screws which you might struggle to get at with just the headlight out, but as it takes about 30 seconds to remove headlight might be worth a shot.

Remove the headlights and grill - about 2 minutes flat - trust me im well practiced with having parking sensor issues a while back lol.
there is a screw on each side just inside the wheel arch for the bumper - should be able to get to on full lock easily enough (without taking wheels off) then there are 6 or 8 x 8mm head self tappers that hold the top of the bumper to the front member. I have learned that you can carefully pull the bumper away from the top and rest it on something in front of the car without taking the screws out underneith (like a small plastic step depending on which height setting your on) but will need a second set of hands to pull the sides of the bumper outwards enough to clear the wing as you lean it forwards. this will give you enough aceess to the spot lights. without fully removing it.

Just a question,

Do the round bits not pull out giving access from the front?

Not to remove them, as they are screwed in from the rear so no access to the screws, just for reference alignment for the lamps is via the two holes under the lower edge of the bumper. Although I think on later cars you may have to remove headlamp to do it.

Eh up,

Crraigymmmm - cheers for the advice will give that a go, do you need to unclip the side piece of the bumper as these are usually clipped / press fit into place .

Happy to give it a go, had the headlamps and grill of in minutes already it’s a doddle 👍

Otherwise it’s out with jack wheel and inner wing off - not ideal.

Cheers all - keep the advice coming in Thumbs Up

Just make sure you have the self tapping screw out and give it a good yank it will unclip. Still wouldn't bother taking wheels off, I have changed bumpers on both pre-facelift and facelift cars and never taken wheels off.

Cheers

Yes mate, as Col said, there is a screw holding the bumper to the wing or bracket inside the wheel well, once removed it will pull away from the clips holding it to the wing, the bumper will need to be held away from the wing whilst you tilt the bumper or it will rub on the wings painted finish- if ya get what i mean.

Eh up all

Thanks for everyone input on this thread.

It stopped raining today so had chance to get stuff done.

So - fog lights 🤔

I needed to get the headlights and grill out so popped them off anyway.

For my purposes I Managed to get access to both bulbs get them out and replace without taking the bumper off.

Drivers side - loads of room

Passenger a bit more difficult

I ain’t no elf hands either - more like shovels

I do not think I could have removed the light unit - definitely bumper off

Pics attached

Cheers for all the advice - hope this helps someone else

Eh up

Forgot to add swapped out bulbs 😃

Not sure it’s to everyone’s taste but they work a treat in fog - better than white in my opinion 😎

Thanks everyone
