Smell of Exhaust Fumes in Cabin

Under normal driving the cabin is free from smells, however if I overtake using the kickdown I get the faintest whiff of exhaust smoke in the cabin. Is this just a poor pollen filter, even though it had a new one a month ago?

I did try searching, but nothing came up 2010 3.0 TDV6 RRS Overfinch GTS

Leaking exhaust? Is it blowing at all? Worst case would be a fractured exhaust cross-over pipe, (have a search on here or Disco3) a real PITA to change body on and not cheap for what it is.

Thanks

The car has a warranty. I suppose I would have to prove it. 2010 3.0 TDV6 RRS Overfinch GTS

My daughters 2011 RR Sport has the same issue. Although it has LR extended warranty they will not cover the cost. Initially they said it was due to it being part of the exhaust system. It was pointed out it was actually part of the exhaust manifold system connecting the manifolds to the turbo. They then had a change of heart and said it was not covered due to wear and tear!

Do not rely on an LR extended warranty, it is a waste of money. They will find any excuse to avoid covering any costs despite my daughter having paid into the warranty for 4 years.

Hi Mac

Thanks for this. My warranty is an independent one, so as the car has only been purchased 1 month ago the warranty should cover it. I believe the company supplying the car needs to make sure it is roadworthy and safe for the first 6 months according to consumer act 2015. 2010 3.0 TDV6 RRS Overfinch GTS

Hopefully all will be ok then. Quotes received so far for replacing the crossover pipe are in excess of £1,000.

That is useful information. Apparently to test the front pipe start the car, leave to run for 3 minutes and if the engine tone changes it could be a crack in the pipe. It is because the flow changes from one turbo to the other. 2010 3.0 TDV6 RRS Overfinch GTS

Correct. TSOV is closed, which stops the secondary turbo from spinning.

Every 3 minutes, the TSOV opens, which spins the secondary turbo

Don't know if it makes that much of a difference to the noise though

I have also seen the EGR pipes out the back of the valve fracture, causing a noise and smell...
