I am going to get in touch with my dealer soon to see what my options are.

It would be nice to get the updated electric motor as it appears to be ~50% more powerful. However, if moving to MY24 means losing the price protection I will most likely stick with MY23.

The new electric motor in the MY24 PHEV versions seems like a good upgrade - more power and more range.

It's shame my MY23 misses out in that regard, but skipping the price increase softens the blow.

Belgium

Just put in order for P440e (https://build.landrover/5CF4195E), will be a P460e before it arrives for sure... Over here in Belgium if you order the car before 30/06/2023 you get interesting tax cuts which stop as from 01/07/2023. Date of order is accepted, not actual delivery. So long waiting times are not perticulary bad as the tax cuts are guaranteed for the entire time you own the car regardless of delivery date. So with a 2 year delivery + 5 year driving I am now assured of fiscally interesting ownership up to approx end 2029...

Have been given a 15 to 18 month delivery time (somewhere end 2024), will probably be a MY '25 by the time it's here.

But suits me fine. I currently drive a Porsche Taycan 4S which is 2.5 years old, so 18 to 24 months delivery would be perfect and on top of that I have a 5 year financial renting deal with a 40% residual value signed and sealed for the RRS with JLR. So basically they have engaged themselves to a 40% residual value somewhere end 2029 (delivery time + 5 year financial renting) meaning I only need to pay 60% of the value of the car up to that time. If the value of PHEV's plummits by then, fine I just give it back and will only have paid 60% over the 5 years. If the value remains good (over 40%) I'll just buy it and sell it immediately at a profit.

Seeing the uncertain situation both fiscally and depreciation wise as the car world is transitioning towards electrification I opted for this long term certainty which, granted, is mostly due to the fiscal rules in Belgium accepting order dates instead of delivery dates. As long as you have a good current car, longer delivery delay only adds to the time you are assured of fiscally interesting ownership as the car world transitions.

Looks like mine will be delivered next Friday (just waiting for confirmation), so that'll be two weeks under one year from order to delivery.

I was told the build had been slotted on 31 March. I'm not sure when it was actually built though.

I didn’t go for many options on mine, but it’s a P440e Dynamic SE.

Todays update.

I have checked on your Range Rover Sport order and it’s still in the holding pool awaiting build slot.
I will continue to check on your order and update you in July.

Same with mine, Bimjim - p44oe dynamic with moderate spec. I’ve been told that makes a big difference to delivery times, but I’ve also read it’s mostly Autobiography’s coming off the production line, so good to see that’s not always the case!

Price protection

Just out of interest guys, for those of you that have had them on order for a long time like early last year, and have been told you’ve got some sort of price protection, are they honouring the original price or some random small percentage? Feedback gratefully received

I was told it was only price protected if it had gone to build status by the announcement date, so mine was not. However, JLR Finance would consider giving us the original interest rate if it was within 12m and you managed to absorb the price increase into your deposit. It seems they don’t care about losing customers…. as there’s plenty in the waiting lists ready to take your place.

I went into see my dealer today to see what car and when it was going to be delivered to me at what price and so they could wish me Happy Anniversary for my order.

Like every other dealer, he does not know when my car will move from the holding pool to a build slot but I am his next PHEV AB that is yet to be built. That build will be 24MY because JLR has asked all dealers to change the orders to reflect that for cars not yet built. He showed me, my order on his system and printed out a copy for me to take away. It is a 460e AB and the order shows 3D sound. In the notes at the bottom it also says in black and white that it has price protection although the order shows the full current price. He says that means that the dealer will discount it back to the original order price on delivery to me.

He believes JLR will transition to 24MY build at the end of June at which point he expects to see his first 24MY slots which I don't think JLR can confirm until they get all their revised orders back in and check for parts availability. He hopes his early 24MY build slots will include mine as he can see no parts holds for my specification.

Who knows.

Mine was kept at the original price, thankfully.
