On mine I run bass three bars down from max, treble two bars down from max, sub at max and shift the sound to the rear two dots.

Talking with some audio guys they told me to set the tone where I was happy with my particular music (I listen to just about anything), move the fade to the rear, then bring it forward to where the sound was just slightly more in front of me. According to them this gives a more surrounded by sound feel rather than just being blasted in the face. Once I did this I completely agree. You get the deeper tones coming from the rear and the higher tones and vocals coming from the front. When I switch off L7 it still sounds good and has the same surrounded by sound feel.

If you search sub rattle there's a few posts on it as not a unheard of issue.

Yeah, I did my homework which led me to sound deadening material to stuff behind the sub. Definitely not the clips, definitely not the carpet, definitely not the sub mounts. The rattles begin just prior to the sub making contact so it’s definitely from the air movement through the tailgate. Figure the sound deadening material will break up and absorb some of the sound waves and hopefully greatly reduce or eliminate the rattle. I can’t identify what inside the door is causing the rattle, just know it’s very annoying. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory
