Tdv6 restricted performance turbo inlet valve problem!!!!!

Hello guys.
Got an issue with RRS 2010 3.0tdv6
Got fault codes coming up as in pic. I add.
Have replaced secondary turbo actuator , replaced both solenoids for both turbos.
Checked the bypass, just in case replaced it aswel😃.
But still as u put your foot down it goes as hell but straight away goes on restricted performance.
And same fault codes appear .
Please help!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hi Rangeroverran,

Did you get to the bottom of this topic? Got a similar fault come up on mine. Turbine inlet valve stuck open (P22D2-77), turbocharger turbine inlet valve control circuit - open (P22CF-71), oxygen sensor out of range during deceleration bank 1 sensor 1 (P2297-00), mass air flow A circuit range performance air flow too low (P00BC-00). Today replaced the MAF sensor, the one closest to the windscreen in you stand in-front of the engine but it still comes back on moderate acceleration 3000rpm+, under that no issues at all.

I am hoping it’s the turbo recirculation valve.

Any input would be most welcome.

Just had same issue on my 2011 sdv6, garage wanted £800 to fit egr saying that's going to fix it
Looking in to it myself found a leak on the vacuum pipes today, new t piece and few bits of pipe all fixed now !!

Hi Raysunners

Epic find and such a saving! Can I ask this vacuum pipe was it controlling this compressor shout off valve or “diverter” valve as some call it. Or was it actually on the turbo (s). I’m in the dog house for buying a Range Rover sport with the wife so any help to get me out of said “crap” would be most welcome.

Hi only just seen this reply, the pipe which was split on mine was near the back of the engine, there is a Y joint and I pulled it to try and remove to test the vacuum. Apparently when no or not enough vacuum the shut off valve will remain shut, therefore no secondary boost, nice easy cheap fix in the end

Hi Raysunners.

That was a good find. Sadly I’m thinking I now have a cracked inlet manifold. I’m now getting turbo low boost fault codes too. The compressor shutoff valve actuator worked find and was free to move. When I started taking it apart I did notice oil mist staining on the soundproofing under the bonnet and also under the engine cover so I’m now thinking I need to make a DIY smoke machine and see if I can find anything leaking.

They are on the left looking at the car from the front, near the back there is a tandem pump with black pipes they have a y shaped joint on one pipe (the other is for the brake vacuum) and go across the engine on one side look where the joint is,I pulled mine to try to separate to test the vacuum and it split in two pieces

Not on the turbos directly it comes off the vacuum pump at the back of the engine splits in two one each side goes engine across to other side

Hey all.

I thought I would update on this thread as it’s beneficial, so the range Rover has been into my local and very well regarded independent to have a second opinion on the turbo faults that I am getting. They’ve checked a large number of Land Rover technical bulletins, and then they have searched on the vacuum system first of all, and they have also now found the same pipe that the previous poster had written about with the white piece in. It has several leaks, they have ordered a genuine part from Land Rover at a cost of £178. Sadly this part is on backorder for the next two weeks. Once it is in they will replace the pipe and I will test the vehicle to see if that cures the turbine cut off valve sticking open . From speaking to the owner of the garage he did state that as soon as you have a vacuum leak, the entire engine control systems start to go haywire because your turbos and then subsequently EGR valves are not being controlled properly and that will then force the timing injections and every other compensatory system to try and compensate for this vacuum problem. A previous so-called specialist said that I would need two turbos and EGR valves. I’m glad I got a second opinion

Hello All.

Short update. The vacuum pipe is now obsolete from JLR so my local independent has made a new section of pipe from a plastic hose repair kit. Also while in they changed the oil and filter plus popped in a fuel treatment and at my request a hydraulic valve lifter additive.

All in less that £200, so far after a 20mile round trip with two A road overtakes (which I don’t normally do) the restricted performance seems to have been solved, economy is back up to 34.5 and the RRS pulls harder than before (placebo maybe)

Thank you to all who helped with suggestions and guidance on this topic. Next job is to solve the ticking noise (hydraulic lifters almost a 100% certainty now)
