RRS L320 Fog Light with DRL fairy lights

Hi All - thank you for this incredible forum for old and new users alike. Been reading over a lot of great stuff posted for our cars and implementing mods that you’ll suggested. I currently undid the DRL mod for the fairy lights. Im interested in updating my fog lights that have fairy leds in them. I understand you can just use the same harness/plug-in for the fog light but wondering where I would install the fairy led wire? Can someone please help / guide as if I can connect this extra wire right to the current main fairy lights? If so, which wire would that be? I’ve attached a photo of the lights that I’d like to install with the wiring plug and the extra wire. Thank you.

You could connect to an ignition supply.

Or in the uk we have drl controllers which connect to the battery.
Sense car charging and turns on drl

Thanks - was thinking the same thing. I’m going to slice into the pin 14 wire - seems this is the ignition wire (please correct me if wrong) of the headlight harness to the red positive wire on light and hook up the white / negative somewhere near by.

If I remember right Pin No. 2 is sidelight/fairy lights. Red/black wire L/H Headlight, red/orange R/H, I think that's the right way round, or at least on a UK spec. car.

Cheers

Thanks Col - would the red wire from the angle eye connect to the sidelight wire and the white to any neutral/ground wire?

Not actually a auto electrician, but don't really see any reason why not, only thing is they would only be on when the lights are actually on, unless you used one of the DRL configurations in the CCF files although there are only a couple of options. Pin No.1 appears to be side light earth if you wanted to use that as the earth connection.

You can't activate them as purely DRL's on there own in the CCF files, it has to be in conjunction with dipped headlights and rear lights. The only other way is to modify the wiring in some way I believe.

This is a extract from a reply I added to a Post about 6/7 years ago. "Just as Reference have gone into the CCF files and there are three options listed for DRL's on my car a MY13 A/B 5.0L S/C.

1. DRL Standard
2. Scandinavian
3. Canadian

I activated Standard and all that did was give me two Fault Codes B124A-15 and B124B-15 which are Left and Right Daytime Running Light open Circuit but no working DRL's so it may be when you have either DRL lamp kit VPLSV0064 or 65 fitted you may have to activate this but that is purely a guess.

De-activated that and then activated Canadian and what that did was nothing with ignition on and Engine Running, however when you engage Drive and let the Park Brake Off it Switched Front and Rear Side Lights and Dipped Headlights On, as soon as you apply P/B and take it out of Drive It switches them Back Off.

Again De-activated that and Activated Scandinavian and what that did was as soon as you Start Engine it Switched on Front and Rear Sidelights and Dipped Headlights.

There is no facility that I could find to just activate the Front Fairy Lights on there own as DRL's.

I hope that all makes some kind of sense."

Cheers
Col

Makes perfect sense. I was thinking if I did the fuse (drl) mod that’s spoken on here (connection of the fuses) first - won’t the angle lights of the fog light turn on as a drl? After all it’ll be connected to the fairy lights on the headlight? —> Fog lights are turned via switched and stay on with the angle eye.

What I meant was if you simply wire them direct to the sidelight they will only work via the light switch, you would need a ignition live otherwise which is what the fuse/wiring modification does I believe.
