2.7 2005 ns head removal.

Evening. So unfortunatly the cam chain snapped. Replaced hoping may be ok. Started ok but runs lumpy. Pulled injectors to do compression test, front and middle 12bar but rear 0 so im assuming valves bent. Cam and followers look ok.

So ive removed all belts, rocker cover, cams. Whats next to pull the head off? No idea how to get to the exhaust.

Ive got a 2 post lift so hoping makes it simplier.

Cheers.

if you have a lift, its easier to lift the bod away fronm the chassis, remove the air con gas, if you dont have a machine get a mobile guy out.

Otherwise you would unbolt the exhaust manifold thru the wheel arch. (Remove and mark heatsheilds)
The rear belt and cover is a Real pain with body on

How long would you say it takes to remove the body mate? If its not that long, then may be worth it as I would strip the OS head too and replace the chain and valve seals.

Might be a better way?

Dunno

By removing the body you get distracted with all the other body off jobs.
Rear brake lines , rust proof chassis

The OS head cam be done body on

Your not wrong there. Im already thinking of whipping the os head off, doing the gasket, all seals etc. Injectors, stems.

Whats best to use on the chassis? Will also do rear lines.

Busy day today. Managed to lift the body and pull both the heads off. Pots and pistons look spot on, still see the honing marks.

The valves also look fine so not sure why had no compession at all.

well if you remove the cam, turn the head upside down.
and pour petrol over the valves, wait 15 mins, that will tell you if the valves leak.

If the petrol remains, the valves have a good seal.
