Wondered if any one else had this issue with TFL and their Sport.

TFL are chasing me to pay the ulez charge for driving into central London.

Car is an 18 plate sport 3.0 litre diesel that as far as I am aware and can tell is a euro 6 compliant engine so am refusing to pay meaning that they are threatening to send in the debt collectors.

I am sticking to my guns and telling them that the car is cat 6 so exempt so won’t pay.

Am I correct in believing that it is cat 6 so exempt from the charge??

4.2 v8 petrol, don't have to pay

Just to demonstrate its a revenue raising exercise my 2015 RRS Hybrid is chargeable yet my 2011 X3 3.0D which I know is euro 5 is not, bonkers! 2015 RRS DIESEL HYBRID

It's the reason I've just bought a 4.2 v8 supercharged

Just had a response from TFL.

They have confirmed in writing that their data base information was wrong and in fact the vehicle is compliant and not subject to ULEZ charge.

I thought they got vehicle data from the DVLA but in this case they were working on data from my registration number when it was on my old sport and the previous charges levied on that vehicle.

That’s interesting because my X3 diesel euro 5 personal registration was on a petrol vehicle previously maybe why I’m not charged. 2015 RRS DIESEL HYBRID

Have seen that sort of issue before with a private plate.

Not with TFL but comparison sites, insurance web sites, etc where they do no not refresh their data base entirely and I presume just add new reg numbers to it? 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

What I do know is that their system must have an element of manual to it as it seems to take a very long time to get charged! Took over 2 months for the first time I drove in/out the ULEZ and 3 weeks this last time. Still not sure if I've been charged the out yet.

I'm on an Autopay system. I don't recall the standard Central London congestion charge ever taking that long, nor the Dart Charge.

Having similar problems, recently purchased as 2017MY SVR which on it's original plate checked through as ULEZ compliant, I changed to my private plate and it's taken several weeks for TFL to recognise the car and now suddenly it's NOT compliant! Now just started the process of getting TFL to change their records.

On the gov.uk site to check the Clean Air Zones they had the change within a week and it still shows as compliant.

Finally have a result.

The TEC cancelled the court proceedings for non-payment of the penalty charge and the TFL Appeals Panel applied a bit of common sense and cancelled the penalty charge.

Best thing is, TFL wrote to me and apologised for their systems being wrong and the car is actually exempt from charge and their system had been updated. In the evidence they presented to the TEC they stated, that "We are happy with our penalty notice procedure and the penalty would not be cancelled" Literally that, one line, no mention of the fact that their system was wrong and that I should not have been charged. Fortunately I had included a copy of the letter they sent to me admitting their system was wrong in the evidence I submitted to the TEC.

Well, I must admit, that turned out a lot easier and quicker than expected. I filled out an online form to start my query, had a reply asking for proof such as the V5 which I replied to with a copy and today they emailed back to say it's all sorted and I am compliant and this is now shown on the ULEZ checker.

I am glad to live somewhere where there is no MOT, no emissions checking, no nothing.
