2020 P400e Charging/Heated Steering Wheel/Climate Questions

Hi all,

I collected a March 2020 RRS P400e HSE Dynamic yesterday.

Loving the car but had a few questions. Wondered if anyone could help please?

1. Does this car come with a heated steering wheel? I’m pressing the button on the s/w but it’s not lighting up and the wheel isn’t heating up. Pretty sure it should. Is there any other way to turn the heated steering wheel on apart from the button on the wheel itself?

2. Should the HSE Dynamic have dual zone climate control in the front (i.e. driver and passenger)? Only one zone showing up when I access the climate controls on the dash.

3. When I plug the car in to charge all I get is the white “initialising” lights round the charge port. Says “Charging Initialising” on the dash but it never takes any charge. The dealer said they will take it back to sort this next week but wondered if there was any known fix for this that I could perform, or am I doing something wrong? Could really do with this working asap given current fuel prices and was one of the main reasons for buying the car! Laughing

Thanks in advance! Any help greatly appreciated

The heated steering wheel was a cost option on my P400e HSE Dynamic.

Do you mean the 2 temperature dials are SYNCed at the moment?
Can you turn the passenger dial to a different temperature?

What are you using to charge? 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Hiya,

Thanks for the response.

Noted on the s/w. Any idea if the heating element is already in there and it can be activated with a software update/upgrade?>

The climate looks like this (lifted from a Google images Evoque shot):

The previous RRS I had was like this, with two zones(again, lifted from Google):

There are also no temperature controls in the rear, although there are heated rear seats.

I'm trying to charge from the 3 pin cable. No public charging cable came with the car (AD is going to send me one) so I've not tried it using anything else. I think to use any public charger you need the blue cable don't you? Never seen any public chargers with a built in cable.

Thanks

James

Re the charging initialising issue, I get this quite often on my 2022 p400e. It only seems to happen when using my 7kW home charger wallbox, but I find removing and reinserting the cable once or twice seems to cure it. I don’t know if it’s the wallbox itself or the car that causes this to happen and it’s never happened with public chargers, but once connected properly the lights go green and it charges perfectly.

What is odd though is that once the charge reaches 100%, instead of stopping or messaging me via the app that charging is complete, it goes back to “initialising”. I’ve not contacted the dealer about either point as it doesn’t really inconvenience me and it’s probably just another LR quirk, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced similar?

All looks the same as my MY22.

I would get all the software updated as you can bet is has never been touched!
Hopefully the latest is more reliable.

I have occasional blips with the charging but unlocking and locking usually fixes it. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

1, heated steering wheel is not standard as this option extra.
2, All HSE have 2 zone control as standard. one for the driver and one for all the passengers include the second row. unless you have 4 zone climate control option which control 4 for seats individually.
3, I think you should try any public charging point to see the car will take any charge or not

My experience is that if you don’t have a heated steering wheel, you don’t have a heated steering wheel icon in the button (you have a blank). RRS MY17 SDV6 AB
Evoque MY17 TD4 AB

Syl is correct. My last RRS didn’t have the heated wheel and there was no icon on the wheel to press. My new one does and the icon is now there and goes orange when pressed/activated
