Noisy heater

When I turn on the heater I’ve recently noticed it makes more noise than previously inside the cabin. Whether it’s on warm or cool it sounds louder than usual (constantly) as if it is working harder. It is working efficiently and responsively; temperature gauge is normal.
Outside temperatures are not extreme here and are currently around 22 degrees during the day and -2 at night.
I just wondered if this could be an indication of something? It’s going in for servicing soon.

Andy... Not since the last service, and it will be done on the next in a couple of weeks time. Would changing it cause the system to make more noise, or, is it a case of it may need changing? Barrie.

I thought if it had not been changed for many years, it could cause noise.

But if you service regurarly then probably not that.

Removing the filter and running the fan briefly may help you understand where the noise is coming from

With the pollen filter removed, are you able to see the fan or photograph it for inspection. Perhaps a squirt of wd40 if you’re able to see/aim? 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Perhaps it's the blower motor bearings getting worn and noisy.

Cheers

My new (to me) 2010 RRS also has an incredibly noisy fan… was quite surprised at this having just changed from a beautifully silent D3.

Update: The noise just stopped on its own after time. I did nothing more to explore but no issues at all. Barrie.
