Have they tried refitting the new cam sensor again? might prove something not really sure what though but can't do any harm.

Hi Col. Ive just had it confirmed, although the old cam sensor appeared ok, they kept the replacement cam sensor in the car. Any idea of the failure rate of cam sensors? |

They are reliable. So suspect wiring or ecu |

Do you know what sort of reluctor is used for the cam sensor? |

I think it just looks for metal or a gap (air)

The manual is a little confusing as it doesn't directly show on what it actually picks the signal up from.

Check the CCA value of the battery, on the label.
