All sounds gone and left hand steering buttons not working.

I couldn’t find any threads about this issue.
Although i did read a similar issue where LH buttons started doing things different from what they should do.

My entertainment system freezes - intermittently and i am left with

No sounds - radio; etc silent and although rotary know moves volume bar - makes no sound and all other screen buttons dead

Left hand steering wheel buttons all dead

no sound from rear parking sensors - although camera still works (amazed at a few close shaves parking - 15 years of beeping - my brain must listen more than look - which is scary.
lastly

Phone doesn’t work hands free (which must be related to left hand phone buttons). and when i dial manually (parked up) if i leave phone connected to LR speakers - no sounds.

Used to freeze like this maybe 3 times a month - and sometimes “off and back on again at lights” would clear it and if parked for a few hours - it would often come back on.

lately it is freezing maybe 10 times a month and no amount of “on and off” seams to fix it - and even long time parked doesn’t work. Then randomly it works again and may work 10 journeys in a row.

Have it booked it Taggarts (north) in Glasgow for investigation - just wondering if the experts on here know of a fix for this - to help me when LR say “never heard of this before - and we need a billion pounds to replace everything connected to the battery”

Car only 2 years old so should be a warranty fix.

thanks in antici.................................... pation.

A quick update on this.

looks like i am alone with this issue - but an update may help if anyone else develops this fault.

Sounds now stopped completely.
Nothing makes a noise -
no hands free phone.
no reverse beeps.
no sat nav sound etc.

dealer had it for 2 days trying software updates.

They told me to take it away and that LR technical team would continue diagnostics to see how to fix software and i may heve to bring it in after about 48 hours.

3 weeks later i had to get seriously grumpy and nobody i spoke to had a record of it awaiting LR on the system.
Eventually told it needs the full Lowers screen and Main entertainment /amp thing (presumably the bit that makes noise) replaced.

surprise surprise - part on long order “expected in about 2 weeks.”
3 weeks later - still not even getting an ETA from LR parts.
So no idea when this will go in or if it will work.

Great cars just pray you don’t need any parts / repairs / main dealer work.

Big Cry

You are no longer alone with this issue. Happened to me today. No sound and phone bluetooth not working. Will have a look tomorrow, see what I can see.
Looks as if I should start with the AMP fuse.

Had the same thing happen to mine on Saturday, parked it up & did a bit of shopping and everything came back again there was a loud buzzing noise coming from the radio speakers until I turned the radio off before parking up.

Been out in mine again today and everything works. If it happens again its obviously not the fuse.

I've had the same issues as boxers on a few occasions,,, on startup a horrendous crackling noise from the speakers,, nothing you'd can get rid,, even switching off it still continues. Only fix is to let the car go to sleep and after that it's normally ok. I'm sure I read somewhere it's an issue with the way the systems initialize during startup,,, once in a while things get out of sync and throw a hissy fit. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Hi Gogsy, glad I'm not the only one to have experienced this last year in Devon had the same lost radio etc. Stopped to walk the dog for an hour or so & everything working as normal again ! That's what I've found with this vehicle let it rest and it's back to normal I don't rush to my independent with my problems unless they persist saves a ton of cash 👍

Right, quick update on mine. About 1 in 5 starts this problem exists. Most annoying. Its going to be a difficult fault to find all the time it is intermittent.

I was the OP on this thread.

Finally got it fixed (so far anyway). after 5 months of near silence

Dealer replaced the entire Hone Ent system. Full new screen and it was a 4 hour part dash out job.

Seems to have solved it and been 2 weeks trouble free so far.

Hard part was the long wait to get the screen from Germany. Dealership had two ETA dates they gave me - pre and post Christmas and both passed without part arriving.

In the end i had to contact JLR UK and i am told the part left factory with my name on it for safe arrival.

Much as i like the idea of a simple fuse fix - i would like to think JLR would hav entries that early doors.
Just glad mine was under warranty. L394

I don't understand why, but if I leave my system on Radio mode it works every time. Its a ball ache changing to radio every time I pull up, and back to iPod before I pull away, but it works every time (so far).
