I’d get a sim for it Terry - one of those 3 24 month jobs off Amazon or eBay. They’re cheap enough. It’s a right ballache tethering to your phone as you’ve found because the connection cannot be relied on. Most of it is down to the phone though, not the RRS. When you do get CarPlay working will need to be plugged in and in my experience it’s not the easiest way to tether and use CarPlay together.

This is straight from a Google search but see if this works : You can check the software version of your InControl Touch Pro system through your Touchscreen by going to 'Settings' > 'All Settings' > 'Software update'. The version of the InControl Touch Pro will be displayed as a long string of characters: e.g. 'S18B_18. 25.3-174880'.

I do have a SIM for the car and its installed now. I took it out as I use the facility infrequently so I generally use it in my ipad.

The problem I have with your version suggestion is that nowhere in my settings menu do I have a 'software update' option (see screenshots in last post).

That is very old software, when I reported problems with my 2017 they updated the software to fix problems with music, screen freezing, etc.

I would strongly complain to dealer senior management that you had these problems for a long time ( inclusing during the warranty period ) and no one took the trouble to update the software to fix known problems.
