The problem with using it even for a short journey to the nearest garage is that the difference in wheel/tyre circumference will surely play havoc with the diff? Besides, when touring in remote areas the nearest garage may be miles away.

That is a space saver wheel/tyre combination and was standard fitting spare on my MY13 A/B from the factory, there will be very little difference in overall diameter/circumference due to being 80 profile. It also came with the same "style 10" rims as yours as they were originally only available on the 12/13 A/B's. Just buy a spare single matching rim and tyre size to use as a spare, or any Sport 20" 9.5J 53mm offset rim for that matter, it will fit in the spare wheel well with no problem.

I think a 19" spare is standard on earlier cars even with 20" road wheels fitted so landrover must have method in their madness. I may be wrong the way I explain this but,,,,, what you have to take into account is the rolling circumference of the wheel / tyre package. If your road wheels are 20" with 45 profile rubber,, there will be little or no difference to your spare 19" with 55 profile rubber. General rule of thumb,,, bigger the rim,, less rubber between the rim an ground, smaller the rim,, more rubber. This is why a lot of people don't like 22" wheels as it like doing with no rubber on the rim!.

That space saver design is from the original L320 RRS suggesting that someone has added it aftermarket. It is the right size and the reason it has a 50mph and 50 mile distance limitation is because it's a different size to the rest of the standard road wheel/tyre combinations. It's a "get you home locally" spare, not a "take it touring" spare. I agree with you that these vehicles should have full size spares as standard. Indeed, I went and bought a second hand full size rim in order to have a full size spare. I have a second spare in the garage which I've also carried in the boot when we were going on trips down to Spain, although that was because we were doing off roading down there and I wanted the security of an extra spare. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Andy, the formula is Pi x D. Measure the outside diameter then multiply it by 3.142 (which is Pi) Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e |

Weight of full size spare would not be a issue as you could spec. the car with a full size spare originally. Don't know if you can fit a full size tyre to a space saver rim due to the rim width being 5.5J, but If I remember correctly the tyres fitted to a Sport with 19" rims were 255/50 x 19". Easiest option is just buy a s/h full size wheel/tyre plenty on fleabay. I did get it wrong in my original reply, my car had the later style durable spare as that is what is supplied with the S/C, it reminded me of a black Disco 3 style five spoke wheel for some reason, the one I was actually thinking of was on a previous sport.

I assume the durable spare tyre size is an error. It says 255/55/19 but should be 255/50/19. 255/55/19 is the Disco tyre size. I run 255/55/19 on my RRS, however, and have done for years. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Then the alloy space saver size is also wrong as the overall diameter of both 175/80 x 19 and 255/55 x 19 are the same 763mm. However I really can't remember what size was fitted to mine. Being L/R cheapskates perhaps they used the same size spare for both Sport and Disco.

Knowing LR, it'll be a cost saving thing or a simple mess up. Both are equally typical LR.
