Gearbox Fault followed by clunk then Terrain Response Specia

i am at my wits end with my car.

I’ve had my car seen to be an independent specialist but everytime it has went in with its sadly came back with more issues.

At the moment my car displays ‘gearbox fault’ then a clunk noise from beneath the body.

Prior to the car going to the specialist it didn’t show any visible issue on the dash. But the clunk would happen when I switched the engine off.

The specialist said he attempted to calibrate the TCM when he heard the clunk, but since that software update I now have a dash error and no use of my terrain response either.

As a side note, I have a new main battery, new auxiliary battery and alternator all done in the last 18 months. Since the alternator has been done my passenger airbag light has remained on too.

Any help, guidance or support is greatly appreciated or I fear it’s getting traded in

It is quite likely that his attempt to 'calibrate' the TCM resulted in corrupted/mismatched software versions between the gearbox and the ECU, so now the car doesn't know what's going on.

As above, find another garage who knows what they are doing. Someone will soon be on to point you in the right direction. I use Disco Mikey, maybe a bit far for you to go Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e

Sadly I don’t know the code that was displayed and I don’t have an ID tool to check.

The possible issue with mixed software would be a blessing.

Disco mikey where are you? I have recorded a video if it would help at all.

A video is unlikely to help. a fault code will give us an insight into the problem Thumbs Up

Hi everyone apologies for the delay but I had to resort to the AA to get the code.

The fault was logged as ‘clutch adaptation calibration fault’ PO80A

I hope that helps?

As suggested someone screwed up the calibration or calibrated the wrong Module, do as suggested and take it to someone who knows what they are doing i.e Disco Mikey.

Hi guys I just wanted to ask if anybody had any other specialists they could recommend?

I tried to get in touch with Mikey both here and via his advertised numbers leaving messages with no luck. The gentleman from the AA recommended Monarch in Dalmarnock but I would appreciate if anyone could let me know their experience or offer another place to go to get this sorted.

Many thanks
