Icarsoft V3

Hi All,

Now I know the IID Gap tool is the one, but at £400, I can't justify it for one car. I'm saving for the Launch X431 which will cover all the cars in the wider household.

However, I want something specific for the Sport. I don't need coding, reprogramming abilities. However I would like something that gives me specific codes, bi-directional actuator testing. More specifically, chasing this Power Restriction error!

Is the Icarsoft good enough for this?

Thanks

I am not into all this stuff but it is interesting that this forum swears by the IID Gap tool, but on the USA Sport forum they all stand behind the Autel Mx808.

Is there really a best product or is it a case of the one we know?
Has there ever been a real comparison of these products, just interested! Thumbs Up 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

I have the Icarsoft LR v2 and am very pleased with it.

It's simple to use, reads the codes and includes a translation list to help understand what they mean.
You can delete and clear the codes.
It will also reset the service interval, steering angle sensors and put the electric parking brake into service mode.

However, there are no programming options, so it's really only a diagnostic tool. I find this quite sufficient for my needs, as I have a very good indie within reach.

As a bonus, it also reads some of the OBD2 codes which are common across the board. For example, it correctly diagnosed an inlet manifold flap problem on a VW Passat, as well as a dead crankshaft position sensor on a Kia Rio.

All in all, a very useful tool and quite as much as anyone needs unless you are into serious DIY maintainance.

Hope this helps.

We like the autel ap200. It’s the cheap one (under £80)
Doesn’t do Ccf edits or bidirectional though.

Goffy, how do you find the code reading? Are the codes specific or generic? I don't need programming abilities, but actuation testing is prob a must!

I am trying to hunt down the power restriction cause, a smoke test revealed no air leaks and no cracked manifold. They have a V3 now so guessing it will be better than the V2 which was already pretty good based on reviews.

I'm actually deciding between the Autel DS or the Launch X431 for the rest of the cars in the household, but need something specific for the Sport.

The code translation table is one of the main menu options on the home screen. You can also find them listed on the internet.

BTW, the LR V2 will force DPF regeneration, accessed from the service menu.

I don't think there is any actuation testing.

I can't tell you for sure about the LR v3, but I would imagine that it's just an upgraded version of the same thing.

Alas, none of these devices seem to come with a user guide, but the LR v2 is fairly intuitive.

I do also have a Britpart Lynx DA 1500, but it only does one "family" of vehicles unless you spend a lot of extra money. In my case I just have the the RR Sport. I works fine, but I don't believe it does programming - at least I've not found it yet if it does! I believe it does do actuation testing, but I haven't ever tried.

I think you pays your money and takes your choice as they say - good luck!
